La Cucina di Maria — Restaurant in Skiathos Municipality

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Memorable Dining Experience

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at La Cucina di Maria and it’s safe to say this was one of the standout meals of our entire trip.

From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the beauty of the setting, a charming courtyard with a stunning tree at its centre that gives the whole place a magical, tucked-away feel. It’s the kind of atmosphere that invites you to slow down and enjoy every bite.

The staff were wonderful, genuinely welcoming and especially kind to our young daughter, which made the evening feel all the more special. It’s not always easy dining out with a little one, but they went out of their way to make sure we all felt relaxed and looked after.

And then… the food. Simply outstanding. We started with garlic bread, which we had originally planned to pair with our mains, but the lovely lady serving us suggested we have it as a starter instead, and she was absolutely right. Without exaggeration, it was the best garlic bread I’ve ever had in my life, crisp, full of flavour, and utterly addictive.

For our mains, I had the spaghetti carbonara, which was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. My wife chose the spaghetti burrata, and she was equally impressed, fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented.

After our mains, we shared the tiramisu between the three of us, and the only disappointment was not having more to myself. It was absolutely beautiful: light, creamy, and packed with flavour.

Atmosphere: La Cucina di Maria is an amazing place to sit at and experience the spirit of Skiathos in the middle of the city centre. There is a beautiful visual arts on the buildings with the trees surrounding the dining garden. With that being said, for atmosphere I would give a 5/5!

Service: The reason why I gave 3/5 for service was simply because we had to wait for some time to get served and get our food. In my opinion, this happens when the waiting lines are huge with people who made reservations with additional walk-ins, and it can become overwhelming and hectic which I’ve experienced, but the waiters really stayed cool and tried to get everybody served! - FYI, for people who will experience Skiathos or Greece for the first time, I have to tell you that people here are the most welcoming and kind I’ve ever encountered, so definitely don’t expect any unpleasant situations here.

Food: When it comes to food, I would have to say that I was disappointed. I don’t know if it’s the items I got, or it is just not my type of taste, but everything was made like it was in a rush. I personally am a food enthusiast and have tried/cooked a lot of italian food, but there is something here that kinda took me by surprise and gave me a feeling that the food we tried was average and made in a hurry.
