Paralia Megali Ammos — Attraction in Skiathos Municipality

I stayed in Skiathos (old town) for just one day and didn't have a vehicle. I wanted to take an afternoon swim after checking-in and Paralia Megali Ammos is a nearby beach (a five minute walk). The beach faces south with a gentle concave curve that offers protection from northerly winds. The winds that day were 12 mph out of the NE, so we were good, no waves. The water was calm and crystal clear and I brought my new mask and snorkel. Approaching from town (the East) one comes to the free section first, there were no umbrellas, nor is anyone monitoring the beach. During my swim from there across the bay and back, I could see many kinds of fish and shellfish. When deep enough, the bottom was sometimes weedy and sometimes sandy. I also noticed, along the shore, many different sections with umbrellas setup. Upon my return, I noticed that the younger and more fashionably dressed people continued walking past that first small free part and presumably were renting chairs and umbrellas...

Terrible Experience – Not Coming Back

I had high hopes for this beach bar, but it ended up being a huge disappointment. The service was incredibly slow and the staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than helping customers. It took over 30 minutes just to get a simple drink, and when it finally arrived, it was watery and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while.

The place was also filthy – tables were sticky, trash was piling up near the bar, and the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. For a beach location, you’d expect at least a relaxed, clean vibe, but instead it felt chaotic and neglected.

The music was way too loud and not even good – just repetitive club tracks blasting with no regard for the time of day or the type of crowd. Not the chill beach atmosphere I was hoping for.

Way overpriced for what you get. There are much better options nearby. Avoid this place if you want to actually enjoy your day...

The BEST PLACE to rent a boat on the island!!

Petra and her wonderful family took great care to ensure we had the perfect day of boating around Skiathos. The weather was a bit hit and miss for a couple of days so rather than send us out, when we wouldn't be able to go far, they waited until the weather was perfect even though we had already paid a deposit.

The family have incredible local knowledge and sent us to the best beaches on the island that we never would have found without them! We will go...
