My wife and I have just returned from a two week stay at the lovely Sunray Hotel. |We had a great stay at the hotel and found it to be a fantastic small, family run establishment, with a perfect setting, spotless accommodation, and friendly staff.|The hotel is positioned about a 10-minute walk along the beach front from Limenaria's harbour. It's a relatively quiet location, compared to the busy village centre, and with a taverna at the hotel and the beach a few steps away, it would be perfectly possible to spend your whole holiday here if you chose to. |The hotel is immaculately maintained and spotlessly clean. It has a nice sized pool, plenty big enough to cool down in and just about big enough for a swim if exercise is required. The beach is mostly sandy and is equipped with sun beds, which are free to use if you spend a small amount in the bar or taverna during the course of the day. |The rooms are fairly basic but were always immaculate clean, with sheets and towels changed regularly. The bathroom was clean and perfectly adequate, although having no shower screen or curtain, it was prone to getting pretty soaked inside when the shower was used. |The best part of the hotel was the staff. I've read several negative comments about Maria in these reviews, but this was not our experience of her. She certainly runs a tight ship and can seem a bit stern, but this is reflected in the quality of the hotel. She was always helpful and friendly in our dealings with her. The other staff around the beach and taverna area were brilliant. Always very friendly, good humoured and efficient. A special mention should go to Samanda, who walked miles every day, taking food and drink to the beach, always with a smile on her face, and kept us supplied with our ice cold campari's with orange juice on the beach during the day.|We ate in the Sunray's Taverna on about half the nights of our stay, but I intend to review the taverna separately, as it has it's own listing, and we only stayed on a bed and breakfast basis.||Just to put some balance on this review I will mention a couple of minor niggles, which didn't really detract from what is otherwise a great small hotel, but still |should be addressed. |The breakfast buffet was perfectly decent, but i did find it unusual that you were expected to clear up your own table when you'd finished. This seemed more like a works canteen environment than a hotel. My other gripe (a pet niggle of mine) is having to pay extra to use the cheap safe in the room. I understand paying for air- con in a small hotel like this, but these safes were old and have no running costs, so charging to use them is a bit of a money making exercise for the hotel. ||Being completely objective (and this is directed at TUI rather than the hotel). TUI give this hotel a 4T rating (I think it's officially a 3*). I think that is a bit generous compared to other 4T listed hotels we've stayed at. Much as I loved this hotel, it is essentially a fairly simple place with basic rooms and limited facilities. |Not withstanding those last few points, which were included for balance. This is a lovely family run hotel, which we world have no hesitation in...
Read moreWe had the most amazing stay at the Sunray Hotel in July. We were all so impressed by the lovely hotel with fantastic meals, the beautiful location and views, and on top of all that, the extremely friendly welcome which we received from Maria and everyone who works there. I was really pleased from the beginning as Maria had realised in advance that we were a large family group and had allocated us rooms together, which was a lovely touch and doesn't happen everywhere. |We had some great meals there - the menu for meals and snacks has something for everyone, and it was all delicious and really good value. We went to the Greek Night in both weeks, which was so much fun! A large local wedding party joined on the second one, which just made the atmosphere amazing. The Greek Night buffet was lovely too, we really enjoyed it.|The whole place is kept incredibly clean, both the rooms with daily cleaning, and all the outside areas. Clean towels, lots of hot water and comfy beds. We did get the air conditioning, and it was definitely worth it.|It's really convenient for a flat walk into Limenaria, with some nice spots to stop along the way for a drink, and the centre has a lovely atmosphere too - very friendly, lots of choice and beautiful views out to sea.|We were made to feel so welcome by Maria and all the staff, they all work extremely hard to make sure everyone has a great time. I noticed that the hotel had won a TUI award for customer satisfaction, which it definitely deserves. It really was a...
