I'm rating this restaurant with 2 stars not to be mean but fair to other restaurants that actually deserve 5 stars and never get them. We were 2 adults and a child tonight under almost a full moon, the view truly is memorable but not the food. We ordered the ceviche for a starter which actually came raw,not maserated, I have tried a number of ceviches and this was not edible. So we asked for some salt and marinated the fish, waited ten minutes for the salt and citrus to kick in and then ate it. In the end it was good. Meanwhile our spinach pie was brought to our table, not bad but again not something to come back for. We ordered a pinot grigio to accompany our dinner and when I asked the waiter which part of Italy it was from,he replied simply that it is a very fine wine called pinot grigio. As a main course we had lamb with nuts(almonds) / zucchini / pea paste...The lamb was over cooked for my standards but the nuts delicious!I had the rib eye steak, and it met my standards as a safe choice, requested medium rare and to my surprise it was correctly cooked, probably in a pan and not on a grill but juicy and medium rare it was!!! Lovely potatoes, but the mushrooms and celeriac plain boring. We had the semifreddo hazelnut dessert, descent but not wow. We requested an invoice and the waiter told us off that "We should have mentioned that before ordering " why is that MY problem I have no idea. We paid just over 100euros for 5 dishes and a 20euro bottle of wine from somewhere in Italy. Some of the staff however seemed eager and professional (The shorter one), others cocky and snobbish. Maybe in a few years I'll return to see if they deserve a 5star review till then I hope the above is taken with respect and with positive attitude as there is lots of ROOM FOR...
Read moreAbsolute top class kitchen. We came here for our last night on the island and it did not disappoint. The female chef is from Switzerland and cook on a top class level. I can assure you this food was one of the best we had ln the island. It compares to the nearby Utopia restaurant but at half the price. I can only recommend going here. The view is also amazing. The service was very kind and good, but the food came too quick. We were just finished with the starter and the main course was already there. If I would go again I would ask them to take it slowly. Another small disappointment was the absence of the barman which meant we could not order any cocktails. The whine however was very good, although served too warm, another thing you could ask beforehand. To keep it short, a star level kitchen in a regular hotel restaurant with a stunning view...
Read moreVisited Al Nur on a stifling Sunday night. The view over Argasi and the town of Zante was spectacular, but even better was the cool breeze by the pool. We had the gnocchi (with pumpkin cream and cured pork) and the chicken (with parsnip chips and crispy prosciutto). The former was creamy and mouth-watering, but the chicken was a true revelation. Juicy and yummy. It was almost unfortunate we had to share it between two people (still, the serving was more than enough to fill you up). The chef came to our table and suggested we try the panna cotta mandolato for dessert. Although not a big fan of mandolato, in this case I was glad I listened to her advice. It was the perfect way to finish an excellent dinner. The service was impeccable and timely, so the overall experience was truly memorable. Thank you for a...
