We again are fortunate to be back in kalimaki and obviously we had to visit Bon Amici again last night as we did twice back in July and have done every year in the last 10. As always we are greeted with the best of welcome from Julian on the entrance and instantly from Nikos when we enter. Our food, we both had the muscles with the most amazing sauce, we both said could have eat it over and over again. My wife had pasta with sausage of the menu , which she said was beautiful and I had the pasta off the special board with spinach and Roquefort cheese, I could not believe have how a dish with only a few ingredients could taste so good. Again, I felt I could have eaten it again but I was stuffed at this point! I have just read a negative review that must be clearly from someone who knows nothing about wine or they may have ordered a bottle of something odd because if they had ordered Nikos’s own wine there is no way they could leave a negative comment. His wine is by far the best anywhere on the island. Actually, in all the years we have been travelling to Greece we have never had anything that tastes that good. Whether it’s red, white or rose they are the best. We have absolutely nothing negative to say about anything with this restaurant,we love it. Thank you ,...
Read moreOn a plus side the restaurant does gluten free which was a reason to go ✅ the staff are friendly but there was little to no atmosphere or holiday chat, like with other restaurants. sadly the new waiter dropped the drinks soaking my sister in law with glass going everywhere. Lots of apologies but the hand dryers did not work so she had to sit in a wet dress. Poor young waiter looked very embarrassed and it felt like the other employees were ‘scowling’ at him a little - mistakes happen. The food was average at best we only had pizza as we decided coffee and pudding can happen somewhere else but, in truth I regret going here and wasting an evening meal in Greece! Upon paying - no discount offered for the extremely bad drinks situation, we did not ask for one as we just felt it was easier to leave, a small discount t or free drinks was the obvious thing to offer - which we would have loved and turned down - the offer is important not the acceptance of it.
We did mention it to the chap at the entrance when he asked if we had a nice time. Who did say come back and he would give us a 10% discount …. To little too late.
Overall rating is based on average food, no atmosphere, poor service (drinks on sister in law with no offer of...
Read moreHighly recommended, Nick and his team were very friendly and welcoming. Julian acknowledged us without pressure and made us want to explore more as we hadn’t eaten, from this point on the level of service didn’t wain. We soon realised that Julian and I had at some point been neighbours back in England (Plymstock) such a small world 😊 Food was excellent and couldn’t fault even when adjustments were requested for a fussy eater or that extra touch of garlic was needed. Drinks were refreshingly cold and much needed after a hard day in the sun 😂 Menu and portion sizes were exemplary, you had plenty to choose from and certainly left feeling totally satisfied, full bellies all round, from the starters through to heavenly desserts. We returned twice more before leaving the Island for all the reasons mentioned above.
We would like to thank Nick and his dedicated team all the very best for the future and hope our paths will cross once again.
