Vrysaki Taverna — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

Vrisaki Taverna is our favourite place for an evening meal . A few years back we stayed at Danny’s hotel which is opposite, We ate here 8 nights out of 14 it was that good. As we had tried a lot of different dishes on the menu , I said to the owner for a joke you don’t do roast chicken we like that on Sunday at home . He replied make sure you come in on Sunday. Yes you guessed it “Roast chicken Sir , Madame , And it was beautiful, He went out of his way that day just for us . Other holiday makers saw our food and asked for it , He said you have started something now !!!! He told us the next night he will be adding it to the menu. We recently returned to zante but was stopping in the next resort Alekes . So the one night we jumped on a horse taxi and came back to our favourite restaurant. They remembered us as soon as we walked in . Yes the roast chicken was on the menu!!! But we had that the night before at our own resort. So I had the Beef , My good lady had chicken Souvlaki, just as good as the last time. Even gave us free wine all night . He told us the roast chicken was very popular and a good addition to the menu. The restaurant is always busy and the staff are so friendly so get in early between 7 pm - 8 pm . After 8 pm it’s full to Capacity and the dining experience is not so personal. So if your staying in Alakanes it’s a must try...

Walked from Alykes to Alykanas for drinks and dinner. Vryaki was one of the top reviews restaurants and came recommended. It was busy but welcoming. They offered us options for tables and we sat by the edge of the patio area. Good choice of greek specialities including some veggie. We shared a starter of stuffed vine leaves which came hot and were great. I ordered the vegetarian mousaka. It had potato instead of meat and parmesan sprinkled on top. It came bubbling straight from the oven in a lay individual dish. It was excellent, great flavour and a good-sized portion. My husband had swordfish which he said was perfectly cooked, served with chips. B oth came with a small side salad, which was a nice touch. We had the house karafe of white wine which was good value. The owners also brought a complimentary pudding local to Zakynthos. Overall a great meal, very good value...

Absolutely great place! I have done my research before we arrived to Zakynthos, found Vrysaki taverna and decided to try it first thing we get to Alykanas. It was better than I expected and we ended up having dinner there 5 days in a row to try as many meals as possible :p. We have focused on the traditional Greek dishes - we found all of them delicious and couple of them are absolutely the must.

So, for the true gourmets I highly recommend Stifado, Youvetsi, Kleftiko and Moussaka. Also Souvlaki are mouth-watering. Apart from that we really enjoyed house wine (red semi-sweet). We do not know about starters and desserts - we only tried cheese pies which were ok but we loved the place for the main dishes.
