Alykes beach — Attraction in Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian

When you first arrive you may think "oh god another resort with loads of sunbeds" which is true but it doesn't matter when you see the water. NEVER have I seen such beautiful, clear, cristalline waters on a beach. You can also go really far out and still touch the bottom, it's therefore great for kids. I took my snorkel and went near the rocks, saw loads of fish. When you're actually out in the water you look back to the beach, it's actually pretty small and there are not that many restaurants etc. When you're in the water, it's not crowded and as I said just beautiful. We had a lovely holiday in Zakinthos we stayed in the resort of Alykes a quaint little Greek seaside town...The beach is absolutely beautiful with the sea being very warm & shallow making it very safe for all the family....It was only s few euros a day to hire a sun bed & the lovely Albanian chap that rented them out also done like a waiter service & would fetch you drinks,snacks & ice cream etc....we also hired a quad bike well we were out there & done a complete travel around this beautiful little Greek Island...All of the Greek people are very friendly & welcoming....I can highly recommend this place for a fantastic Summer...

Very nice beach, it's shallow for quite a while (25-30 meters) and then goes deeper for diving through underwater caves, arches and looking and multi colored fish. Many water sports available for older children and young adults like water skiing, banana boating and being pulled in a rubber ring.
