Rincón Del Steak — Restaurant in Guatemala City

I’ll start by saying the food is not the reason for this 1-star review. It was the bullying service and greedy management. First off the 10% service charge is not given to the staff. They just are charging you 10% markup on top of the listed prices.

Second: I went there as a non-Spanish speaker. They had an English menu so I thought it’d be no problem. We ordered from the English menu and because it’s in a different order than the Spanish menu our waiter misunderstood and brought us the wrong dish. We sent it back without touching it. Then the bill comes…. the appetizer was still on the bill. The manager comes over and is very accusatory that we had somehow smuggled the dish in our takeout boxes when they are the ones who put our food in the takeout boxes themselves. Then he tells us that if we don’t pay for it that our waiter would be charged for it! This disgusting attempt to guilt trip is to pay for food we never ordered and didn’t eat was enough for me to write this review. We were then informed by the waiter that he doesn’t receive the 10% charge and we would have to add another tip if we wanted to give him anything.

I blame the management and restaurant owners not the waiters for this encounter and plead that people eat at another restaurant that still has its morals.

Excellent steaks. Their signature plates are 'Carne Al trapo' meaning 'Meat on a rag' and they really do serve the meat on a rag, clean of course. They glaze the meat in wine and their special sauce as well. It comes out bathed in what looks like BBQ sauce, but it's actually their signature sauce and it's really tasty. The sauce is NOT sweet so don't go ordering your meat Al trapo thinking it's gonna taste like BBQ. They have all types of meat like flank steak, ribeye steak, New York strips as well as others and you can order any one of them 'al trapo'. You can also order your meat without the rag of course, but that defeats the purpose of coming here. Staff is super friendly as well and overall an excellent restaurant. If you're visiting Guatemala I'd recommend you come here if you're looking for...

Woow! Awesome. My food (steak and shrimp) was perfect. The service was super friendly and helpful. They also use microphones to communicate with each other to help faster. The atmosphere is super nice and calm. Be careful with your choice of cooking the meat (everywhere in Latam) . Spend a bit time to explain by pictures. I'm from Germany and Medium in Germany is diferent to here. Medium here might be rare inside. I love my meat medium to "tres quarters". Then it will be slightly red inside. But if you know and have a bit patience you're getting the meat you deserve :D Small Tipp to the restaurant: prepare the Tiramisu without cocoa powder and put it shortly before serving. And please add a bit Amaretto...
