Lai Lai — Restaurant in Guatemala City

WRITING THIS REVIEW AS AN AMERICAN THAT LIVES IN THE BAY AREA: 😭😭 I wish I would have went to P.F. Chang’s instead but I was trying to be like the locals. Like most restaurants in Guatemala the service was great, staff was friendly and made no mistakes. However the food LOOKED right and tasted very off, orange chicken tasted like orange candy, legit like candy. Chow mein monasterio had many of veggies but noodles were very wrong and starchy? Or it may have been the sauce which was grainy? Not sure. Char siu flavor was good but meat was not my favorite. Beef and green onions dumplings was just that 😭😅 0 seasoning just boiled. If you come here hoping for mid to good level American Chinese DO NOT COME. Of course that is said with love as this place is obviously curated to Guatemala taste and style not American or authentic Chinese. I recommend going to Panda Express or pf changs if that is what you are...

For the first time in Guatemala, I experienced terrible service at this restaurant. Despite ordering simple dishes, the food arrived excessively late. To make matters worse, our Chinese rice was first served to another table; the waiter took it from there and brought it to us much later, even though it had already been tasted and was in poor condition. When we asked for a new serving, they made excuses about preparation time instead of fixing the issue.

Additionally, the chop suey was clearly rushed after they realized they had forgotten it—it was poorly cooked and overly salty.

Excellent service from the customer service over the phone and servers. Only 4 stars because the place is a bit outdated. I tried the Dim sum menu, Ha Kai is great, the Gnao Yok Yun didn't look like beef as advertised but made out of pork. The Ha Cheon wasn't that great, not as it looks in the pictures, few shrimp pieces only. The Nai Wong Bao wasn't fresh, it looked good but the feeling was dried. I had another desert recommended by the server that it was really good, unfortunately I don't remember the name. The dishes were they serve the steamed food are in need of replacement, some of them have rusted...
