Atmosphere is great and food was good but was pricey by Guatemalan standards. Service was excellent and we enjoyed sites such as birds, fish, and luxury yachts from our outdoor seat next to the Rio Dulce. Private parking area is secure with a local boy keeping watch, seating can be either tables on dock next to the water or under the Corozal palm thatch large seating area. Local authentic muebles (furniture) and building features right on the river make the atmosphere alone a reasonable to dine at Ranchon Mary, however menu options for Mojarra (Fried local Tilapia or Sunfish), (Lobster), and Sope de Mariscos (Seafood Soup) will definitely ensure a fabulous meal and memorable experience. Our party of 6 enjoyed the food and atmosphere however we could not give Ranchos Mary full 5 stars because the 2 family members who had ceviche had food poisoning shortly afterwards that afternoon. We used this restaurant to cater for our event. We requested the tapado which is supposed to be the most traditional dish in rio dulce served with a mojara…. We paid the price and had no complains about it but the night of our dinner all my guest has tilapia instead of mojaras but still I paid the price for a mojara. I really hate that management took that as an opportunity to save money…. The food was good and servís was ok but I would make sure if you order here that they give you what is described in the menus and get what you paid for. Also the hamburger meat for the kids is not real meat none of the kids like the hamburger there and aet...

I’m very pleased by the delicious fresh food. The rice and beans were amazing. Fish was nicely fried and flavorful. Also the environment is gorgeous. It’s on top of the water with beautiful shaded tikis. The breeze felt wonderful no need for AC. Beautiful scenery and wild life such as fish, tortoise, birds, etc. Not to mention they have the best Pina Colada...
