The saying "you get what you pay for" certainly applies here. If you are in Rio Dulce and you want local cuisine and hang with regular Guatemalans and pay next to nothing for your meal, don't come here. But if you want to hang with ex-pats, eat a burger, or pizza, or have a nice Caesar salad while drinking a cold beer, and you are fine with paying quite a bit more, then Sundog is the place for you. Being on the water and having a relaxed vibe is also a selling point. My only complaint (and it is very minor) is that after ordering, it seemed to take a very long time for our food to come. I didn't time it so I don't know for sure but it did seem longer than I would expect. Oh, and we were seated at this couch with a low coffee table... it was not ideal for eating a meal. Other than that, the service was great, the meal was a delightful reminder of home, and ambience was...

Lacking Customer Service- We have been here twice and service was less than satisfactory both times. Servers ignore you when you walk in and are not the least bit friendly. Mike (A 13 y.o. kid) was super nice, friendly and only one with a personality and the understanding of service. We were the first ones to order our food when they opened ( 2 sandwiches) and it took 55 minutes. Our drinks are currently empty while the servers are standing around talking. Looks like kitchen workers are prepping for later. View is nice and the breeze cools you off; however I would not recommend this place based on the service. Too bad, because this could be an amazing place!!! I will be back in 5 years once Mike is old enough to be is running this place, but until then will be...

Buena comida, pero el servicio deja mucho que desear.

Service keeps getting worse. Went by this past Sunday around 4PM, with a group of 5 friends. We sat on the tables by the pier. Had the waiter come by and give us a menu, and then they completely dissapeared. Waited around THIRTHY minutes to get service, and the waiters never came back. Tried to flag them down a few times, but they never showed up. Not even to get our drink order. Place did not seemed...

I can't really tell much about the food because I didn't eat there. I just stopped by because I needed to get a boat to go to our hostel. They welcomed me to the bar, drop my bags, offered me internet and bath so I could wait comfortably. I just regret I didn't check this place a night before, they have an awesome vibe going on.

Sun dog cafe ia a great spot by the river. The food is good though a little on the pricey side for a budget traveler. Their speciality is the avocado chocolate milkshake and it's yum! Cocktails are good too. There aren't many spots in Rio Dulce but you can't go wrong with Sun Dog.

Great location with a big patio on the water with nice views. The hamburgers are fresh and tasty. The guacamole was bland and only tasted like onions. Gin cocktails were delicious and the lemonade was fresh.
