Bar none, Mammut Steakhouse is the best restaurant in Utila. Others may say it's the most expensive restaurant on the island but I think that is based on the Honduran Lempira (HNL) currency. It is not expensive at all if you factor in currency conversion plus what is all involved in bringing outstanding cuts of meat on the island.
Mammut Steakhouse has a great menu with Prime, grade A cuts of meat, like Ribeye, Tenderloin, Tomahawk, Flank Steak, and many more. Make sure to pair your steak with a few of their excellent sides like the Gnocchi with Pesto, Esquites, etc. By the way, I'm not an alcohol drinker but they have a great selection of wine and mixed drinks.
Start your experience with a few of their unique appetizers. My favorites are the Steak Tostones, Crispy Mash Balls, Pesto Cheese Ball, and Bruschetta. Finally, if you still have room, try their one and only signature dessert, a Chocolate Lava Cake topped with seasonal ice cream. They also serve salads, chicken, and burgers if you prefer that type of meal at a steakhouse.
The service is outstanding and the team really caters to your needs and satisfaction. The staff (Viviana, Cynthia, Samar, Junior, and the kitchen crew) is very friendly and always greets you with a warm smile. They are a happy team and it shows, and that's because the owner (Blanca) treats them well with respect. I have only been on Utila for 3.5 months but have dined and brought many friends to Mammut Steakhouse over 20 times in that short time. This is my favorite restaurant on the island and I will surely miss it when I leave.
If you're celebrating a special occasion or simply craving a great meal and memory lasting experience, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND dining at Mammut...
Read moreDefinitely not worth your money. Staff is friendly and atmosphere is nice but the food is ridiculously overpriced. We took the picaña which was chewy and half of it was fat. The red wine (we took two glasses of cabernet sauvignon) was at room temperature which is obviously too warm and the only option we had to cool it down was to put ice in it... for a steakhouse place this sounds like a joke right ? The asparagus... 180 lempiras for five tiny one in a plate way too big 😂 seriously?
To top it all, when we got the bill we were told it was not possible to pay by card, the only cashless option was PayPal for which we got charged an additional 7%
Long story short, after one week on the island and having tested a lot of different places, this is by far the one I would recommend...
Read moreThe only steak house in Utila. Warm, inviting atmosphere snuggled into a historic coral stone house. Indoor and outdoor limited seating (outdoor more lounge style), do make a reservation to ensure a table!
Great place for meat lovers and shared meals (all items sold separately, best to share sides).
The caeser salad (good size portion) isn't tossed, so it can be dry. (For caeser salad purists, you'll know what I mean).
Great little bar in the back serving up a variety of cocktails, with catchy locally inspired names. The lychee martini is fantastic. Ask about the members club card: after 2 cocktails you get a card with one stamp. 10th cocktail free.
