Ta Bistro Vietnámi Étterem — Restaurant in Budapest

Looked promising and very lovely waitress, but there’s so much to improve! Menu is your shop window yet it was black & white photocopies, pages stuck together and the rare photos indecipherable. Didn’t help no English menu, problematic for a tourist city like Budapest. Waitress did offer to translate but English was poor and too many pages to go through. Chair was wobbly and when did cobble together a chicken and jasmine rice dish, the only beer they do is Heineken. Why not an Asian offering? Then they didn’t bring the drink. I had to ask. It was quiet with only two other tables. When the food did arrive it was average. Rice was overcooked (should be fluffy) but portions were very good - think twice the meat of a Wagamama’s. No music playing and romantic atmosphere for the two couples pretty much spoilt by the older Vietnamese guy (owner?) watching a video on his smartphone without headphones. Gordon Ramsey would be rubbing his hands with glee....

A hidden and well camouflagged gem if you ask me. Nothing suggested when we entered how satisfied we will leave. The lady was running the place all alone, so the service was slow. We ordered a lot, but had enough time to wait and it was well worth.

All the dishes we tried were freshly prepared (also reason for slow service) and amazingly delicious. If something was missing from the menu, the lady offered to prepare something similar without any issue.

The environment is just a tad bit better then in your random asian fast food restaurant around with the battered walls and brutally practical building services - the food quality makes this place clearly outstanding.

Maybe we were just lucky, but we had an amazing time here and on an excellent price level - we'll definitely return to check...

The food here is absolutely outstanding – every dish is full of flavor, fresh, and perfectly cooked. I would easily give the food a 10/10. It’s one of those hidden gems where the taste really surprises you.

The prices are very affordable, and honestly, with food this good, I wouldn’t mind if they charged double. Great value for money.

However, the cleanliness of the dining area seriously needs attention. The tables, floor, and overall environment could use a deep clean. It’s a shame because it takes away from the otherwise amazing food experience.

If they can improve the hygiene, this place would be a solid 5-star restaurant in my book. I’ll definitely come back for the food – just hope the next time...
