Koffer Borbár — Restaurant in Soproni járás

Concept-wise, Koffer would deserve 7 stars (see my objections below). Modern, sophisticated and minimalist, this is the best place to enjoy a good wine in Sopron. The staff is open minded and friendly, a rare gem in Hungary (+ their wine recommendations were fabulous). It only lags behind in terms of music. Just like food, proper music pairing is vital for the overall experience. Target audience seemed to be age 25, 30+ wine connoisseurs (/lovers/payers), seemingly well travelled. The playlist, unfortunately, is currently mainstream music, that of cheap beer drinking friendly teenagers, which is distracting at first, and after a short while, intolerable. Quite possibly the best wine bar anywhere and I live in a wine region.

The wine selection from across Hungary was impressive. The wine menu was easy to interpret in any language, color coded by region with graphics to indicate white, red or rose. Sure, you had to interpret a couple words like dry or sweet but that was all.

Food selection was light but the perfect accompliment to the wine selection and enough to make a meal. No problem as a vegetarian however I'm not sure if a vegan could make a full meal.

The staff was outstanding, knowledgeable about the wines; offering suggestions best on likes or dislikes and endlessly patient with a challenging group of people.

Reservations would be recommended for groups.

What a wonderful time! Fantastic service on a slow afternoon, we sat at the bar and tried a ton of new grapes and wines from Hungary. We didn't order any food, but drank a lot of new wine you can't get in the U.S. If you like wine, you must come here and sample all the region has to offer. Our bartender spoke German/Austrian, Hungarian, and English.
