Service bad and not an english friendly restaurant. We sat at an empty table by the small river as no one seemed to notice we were waiting. Many minutes passed for someone to come by our table. Then a waiter came raising her voice and speaking in hungarian. When we asked in english what is the matter, she said the table is reserved. There was indeed some hungarian text written on a heart shaped metal tin, but we didn't know what it meant. Many tables around (with or without people sitting) had that tin (so waiters didn't take the tin when a table was occupied). We apologised and asked if there is another free table so we can sit and the waiter said no, even though there were at least 3 other tables with no heart shaped metal tin, so not reserved. The waiter just wanted to get rid of us. So we left without getting to order anything. I won't go back there in the future but it would really help to have english displayed text for reserved tables or english menu for drinks left on the table. This would help the many european visitors for European Capital of Culture. [Later edit - related to the property reply] The situation I described and experienced was different. We did not have a male waiter, we have been approached by a female waiter. No one escorted us and definitely we were not told to wait 2 mins, we were told there are no free tables, even though there were more than 3 without the heart shaped tin. The issue here, in case it was not clear, is that the waiter expected us to speak hungarian and understand the reserved heart metal sign, when it is not obvious for non hungarian speakers - it looks like an ornament. The waiter considered us arogant, that we dared to sit on a reserved table (which was not the case, as we really did not know it was reserved) and then we were not given an alternative to stay, but asked to leave. Definitely each house has their rules and can select their clients, i just felt we were misjudged. Anyway what's done is done, the important thing is what the property will improve in the future so that other clients don't experience a...
Read moreWe sat outside, right next to the river, the music was nice, and the whole atmosphere is very cute. The homemade iced tea tasted, but sadly that's where my praise ends.
I expected more from the dishes based on their descriptions and price. The menu itself has a lot of similar items, but there are some extra dishes on a blackboard (i would appreciate if they printed those out to see at our table). The salmon was well cooked, but the side of tamato puree and veggies weren't that good. The brassói wasn't great either.
The burgers were mediocre at best sadly. The buns didn't feel fresh, the patty was juicy but not flavorful, the fries were very thick boiled potatoes that got dipped in hot oil for a few minutes. Crispy, but also very oily. I would've liked regular fries instead.
Overall the spot is in a great location, service is kind but if you come here to eat, which is like most people, I don't recommend it. I'm not happy either because I've come here multiple times since it opened almost 10 years ago now, and its been worse and worse for...
Read moreI was there with my best friend who lives in Veszprém. We tried to reserve a table on phone but nobody picked it up only after a few calls. (Later we realized that basically nobody cares about the ringing phone.) We arrived there with the reservation and we had to hunt a waitress because none of them came to us for about 10 minutes. One of the ladies brought us to a table which was reserved for someone else.. we got our drinks after like 20 minutes and the food after more than an hour. It tasted alright but my “fricska fries” were half-cooked huge potatoes. While we were waiting, we heard that some other guests had similar issues: they didn’t got the food they ordered or got someone else’s bill. The owner came to us when we payed and asked if everything was okay. We told him our concerns but instead of saying sorry he told us he can’t do anything with the waiters, there is a lot of guests. I don’t think that a full house should be a problem for a Michelin-guide listed place or it indicates the staff to be rude to us. We were deeply...
