Aðalbakarí, a charming start to your day

In the heart of Siglufjörður, close to the fabulous Hotel Sigló and the camping ground you'll find a delightful bakery that caters to coffee drinkers and lovers of freshly baked goods alike. The name Aðalbakarí literally means the main bakery, and it's simply a must-visit.

If you're an early bird, rejoice! Aðalbakarí opens its doors bright and early, making it the perfect stop for a morning treat. Step inside, and you'll be greeted by the cozy ambiance and rustic decor. The bakery exudes character, making it a pleasant place to linger. It boasts an impressive array of pastries and bread. From flaky croissants to hearty rye loaves, there's something for every palate. Pair your baked goods with a cup of their rich, aromatic coffee. It's the ideal way to kickstart your day and savor the flavors.

Feeling adventurous? Aðalbakarí offers more than just coffee. Treat yourself to a glass of wine or beer—it's a unique touch that sets this bakery apart.

While Siglufjörður may not have many bakeries, Aðalbakarí stands out as the best—and perhaps the only—choice....

Our tour guide recommended we check out this bakery for lunch during our stop in this pretty little town at the base of a lovely fjord. I'm glad we did because the food here is wonderful. I enjoyed open face salmon sandwiches and my wife had a traditional open face shrimp sandwich with sliced eggs, etc. Others had chocolate covered cinnamon buns (huge and sinful!), crusty bread sandwiches with ham, etc. Every expressed happiness with the variety and quality of the food, plus drinks including coffee, tea and canned drinks. Desserts were on offer too for those with a sweet tooth. Make sure to walk down the street just one block toward the harbor to catch the cute little sod covered house. Birders should proceed to the harbor with lots of gulls, red-necked phalaropes, common eiders,...

From the outside it may not look like a lot, but it has a great location in town and from the moment you step inside and get those great fresh baked smells and see the cozy atmosphere they have created, you will be pleased to have visited. Plus, most importantly, the baked goods are DELICIOUS - probably the most tasty flaky and gooey cinnamon roll I have tasted anywhere in the world (495kr, $4USD). Cookies and other baked goods we purchased were similarly top notch. They also had great quality of unlimited drip coffee (495kr, $4USD) and a table with free samples. They also hid nice free restrooms, so this was a lovely break and recommend everyone stop by to pick up a pastry...
