We aren't the kind of folks to complain, but with prices this high, we were left quite disappointed. Our cod dish seemed to be both over and undercooked. The rest of the plate was practically inedible, mixing salsa (the kind you dip in nachos) with possibly dehydrated olives and strange vegetable crisps on top. No one came to check on our meal. I got up and asked if we could get some salt, pepper, and lemon to try to salvage the dish. Unfortunately, it wasn't salvageable. When we were asked if everything was okay, we mentioned that the cod dish wasn't cooked properly. The server didn't say anything, took the plate away, and that was that. We weren't offered another dish, sympathy, or a modest discount. We aren't rich folks, so spending this much money on a meal isn't something we do every day. It's disappointing such little care went into the meal prep and service. Our server was otherwise quite lovely, but it was clear this person was brand new and may not have received appropriate training. Our advice to the owners (and this reflects other comments here): please take the time to properly train your staff. This is a lovely hotel in an absolutely charming town. With a little more training on the basics (checking on the meal, what to do when a dish isn't cooked properly), you can avoid disappointing visitors. Tak, tak.

Ok. Let me start to say that the hotel is amazing, rooms are quite spectacular! From The restaurant we expected the same, but we were quite disappointed. We ordered the 3-course menu, for 11900 ISK, which is very pricy for 3 courses. A la carte is also very pricy by the way. But after we ordered it, no bread on the table, nothing. When the wine was served, also not a small zip so you coud taste it, nothing. The staff is friendly, but if you are charging these kind of prices you cannot get away with just this, you have to give that bit extra, both from the kitchen and from a service point of view. Yes, I know Iceland is expensive, but we have been travelling around for 18 days and have had the same quality for (a lot) less. The starter was really good, the main (cod or lamm) was also good, desert was disappointing (lava chocolate cake, with one piece of vanilla ice). All in all, for 11900 ISK, we were expecting a lot more, both from the kitchen and service.

We were a bit nervous about going to this restaurant during our hotel stay due to lower reviews on Google. All the other restaurants in the town were closed on a Tuesday so we gave it a try and I'm glad to say we did. Food was actually very good - some different dishes to lamb, arctic char and cod on every Icelandic menu. We had the linguine and lamb bourguignon and both were very tasty. Prices are inline with most Icelandic restaurants and service was friendly, if a little inexperienced, at times. A good solid choice!

I honestly expected more from this restaurant, given the Hotel is absolutely amazing. They unfortunately do not have a good selection of food and also not for dietary restrictions. The allergenes are not marked on the menu card (also not on the breakfast buffet). The dinner I ordered unfortunately didn't taste good. It didn't had a taste, missed salt and spices and there was no salt or pepper on the tables to help getting some taste into the food. I left half the portion uneaten and grabbed a snack in my room afterwards. The dessert with fruit salad was canned fruits which was an absolute no-go. For a fruit salad I'd expect only fresh fruit to be used in a nice sauce, not the canned fruit sirup.

The prices are way too high for how the food is. Their chef should improve the combination of taste for the menu and give that extra bit of spice into it so the guests actually get some interesting taste of food. Service was ok, definitely nothing to complain about.

Side note: Nothing bad to say about the hotel itself if you are staying there, but you should consider eating out or takeaway from one of the other restaurants in town which is definitely the...
