HVER Restaurant — Restaurant in Hveragerðisbær

Sweet potato soup was deliciously memorable. The Hver Burger straddled the line between good and exceptional. Everything except the the beef patty itself was great. The patty seemed like it was made of quality beef but needed a stronger flavour to hold its own with the rest of the burger. ;) Perhaps more seasoning or more smoky / charring preparation?

The environment was pleasant - sophisticated casual. Visually quite attractive, with the best dark artwork (painting) I have witnessed in a restaurant (Immediate wall on your right when you enter). I have to take a picture in the morning before I leave for Vik.

Final comment. Perhaps this impression is due to a culture gap, but I found the staff a little humanly disengaged. They were attentive and pleasant, but ... remote and shades of professional/plastic or professional/distant. Take my point with a grain of salt though, I was in a rush reviewing drone footage I had captured on my tablet so I may not have been the...

I've been there with my partner for dinner. The restaurant looks beautiful and quite posh. However, the waitress was really rude. She offered us a table and we asked her if we could have a table with sofa and she said that all the tables were fully booked (50 mins before they shut). After a couple of minutes we asked the other waiter if we could have a table with sofa and he was happy to offer us a table there and he said that all were free... The food was really bad ,poor quality, really heavy ,we left the restaurant with stomachache. We asked to pay the bill and she never brought it to our table ,in comparison with the other table next to us ,that she filled in their glasses with water every 15 mins. We wanted a special meal for our last night but we definitely didn't get it. Had langoustine soup for our starter, which unfortunately seemed to have prawns instead and half the salt from the sea. Only 1 person from the party could finish it but no-one enjoyed it. Next we had lamb, which was somehow just as salty and very fatty. No flavours could be discerned past the salt. No-one was able to finish this course at all. No dessert was ordered due to members of the party becoming sick and having to go back to the room. When paying, we informed the staff of our experience and were dismissed. It cost around £175 and we were left extremely disappointed. I definitely don't recommend...
