Unfortunately our experience here wasn't our favorite. All of our food lacked flavor and for the price point, it just simply wasn't worth the try. When titles such as "former national culinary team member" is used, expectations tend to go up. We were expecting flavor bombs for our last meal in Iceland, but it came up short. We got steamed buns, crispy chicken, edamame, cauliflower, and mixed salad. The steamed buns from the main course section are not traditional steamed buns and had I known that, I probably would have skipped them- although that was on me for not digging deeper into the online reviews to see that. 2 of the 3 buns lacked any flavor- the pork one had the most flavor and that was from the sauce served on top of it. Crispy chicken was perfectly crisp with the sauce, but the chicken was bland. Edamame had potential, but since it was a butter sauce, all the flavor was sitting in the bottom of the bowl. When you finally got to the butter that was all you could taste due to the butter not being infused with the ginger and chili, leaving the dish to be bland. Cauliflower was missing flavor, we craved for even a little bit of salt at minimum to enhance any potential flavor in the red pepper sauce. Mixed salad was good, but it was dry, it needed more tomato salsa on there to help dress the greens a bit since there wasn't any dressing. After reading many other reviews, it looks like many people complained or dishes being too salty, but now there just isnt any st which leaves dishes falling flat of flavor. I guesa the balance may be missing somewhere. The espresso martini was delicious, house red was tasty and we loved the white ale on tap.
Our server was pleasant, but there were only 2 of them running the whole floor and it was obviously stressful resulting in the environment feeling tense and not so desirable. All in all, we would not return to this spot as the prices do not reflect the food. But this is definitely the spot to come to sit at the bar and enjoy an espresso martini with...

We went for the krisp burger and the tasting menu (3 course). In short, the burger was undercooked (not medium but actually rare inside, without asking how we'd like it cooked) and the ribeye was very overcooked and tough. This was a massive disappointment, and like another review said it was very flat. I'm not sure where they source their beef from, but it should be reviewed. A flat and tough steak is not what I imagine they hope to be selling, and what customers certainly do not want! What is also strange is that the waitress did not come and check in on our food either, which is a norm in restaurants.
The starter on the tasting menu - the cod - and the chocolate cake dessert were both good, and I'd recommend them. The beer is also good and a decent price for Iceland standards.
Finally, when we asked for some mayo we didn't know it would be charged and a tiny little pot for 3 USD. Be warned, people. I don't have any problem paying for sauces, but they should tell you that a tiny bit of mayo from a bottle in the back will be charged to you.
Overall, a...
Read moreAwesome..! Standing Ovation for the chefs..! Staying at the Hotel South Coast. So an easy 5 minute walk across the street. Glad we chose this restaurant. Being there are many options in Selfoss. The steak was perfectly cooked, seasoned nicely, might be one of the best steaks I have ever eaten in Iceland or any where else for that matter. I ordered the 3 course meal and the 250gr Ribeye. The potatoes were great the sautéed mushrooms some of the best I have eaten.. We also ordered the 3 steamed Buns, not your traditional steam bun, more like a steam bun taco....but it works..great idea. And they were tasty.. The chocolate cake w/ vanilla ice cream and strawberries....just ....ohhhh...please stop it..!! It was extremely good...highly recommend. Definitely coming back here. The 2 waitress in front were a bit over worked I think. Which slowed things down a bit...but kudos to them for being able...
