The Old Diary Food Hall is a great place to visit if you are looking for variety in your dining experience. With three different restaurants under one roof, you can choose from a range of different cuisines and dishes. The concept of being able to sit wherever you like and order from any of the restaurants is convenient and flexible, allowing you to mix and match to your heart's content. One of the standout features of The Old Diary Food Hall is the buzzer system for food collection. This ensures that your food is hot and fresh when it arrives at your table, which is a nice touch. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is lively and vibrant. Most of the food on offer at The Old Diary Food Hall is excellent. The pizza joint is particularly noteworthy, with a range of delicious toppings to choose from. The Italian pasta joint also serves up some tasty dishes, while the western bar and kitchen offers a range of hearty meals that are perfect for meat lovers. In terms of pricing, you can expect to pay between 4,000 and 6,000 Kr per person for a main course and a drink. While this may be on the higher end of the scale, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience make it well worth the price. Overall, The Old Diary Food Hall is a great place to visit if you are looking for a varied and enjoyable dining experience. With excellent food, friendly staff, and a buzzy atmosphere, it's a must-visit for foodies and casual diners alike.

Inside the Old Dairy food hall in Selfossi is the best fish and chips we’ve ever eaten. First let me tell you that two in my party are difficult to impress for they always boast about their superior, fried haddock ‘n chips from the East coast. Let’s stay in the “present”: Samuelsson Matbar ‘s fish and chips knocked our socks off. Our jaws dropped when the staff confirmed that this was cod. A quote from one of my party who is a fisherman of Bodega Bay & Pacifica who knows fresh who stated “off the hook slammin good”. The order came with 2 flaky, large pieces, fresh tasting tender center, with perfectly seasoned crispy batter that fell off with the fork. The Old Dairy Food Hall in general is an excellent stop after Kerid Crater &/or before going to see the Seljalandsfoss or Skogafoss. And if you like lamb that isn’t gamey but full of flavor, try their tender skewer. Green too… use real cups & cutlery instead of “1 use”

Food Heaven in Selfoss

Mjólkurbúðin in Selfoss is a hidden gem for food lovers – a modern food hall packed with diverse restaurant options, all under one roof. This place has something for everyone.

There are so many good choices, it’s honestly hard to decide – which is a great problem to have. The atmosphere is vibrant yet cozy, perfect for a casual lunch or dinner stop on your Icelandic road trip.

We went with Rösti Burgers, and they were absolutely fantastic. Juicy patties, crispy buns. Flavorful, satisfying, and served quickly despite the busy vibe.

Highly recommended if you’re passing through Selfoss – come hungry and be ready to explore a little...
