Hotel Amar Bangla — Restaurant in Agastheeswaram

I went there without checking review of others... That was my mistake i believe, however i have observed few things and below are my reviews.... Considering the price range, i would rate 4/5 for its ambience, staff behaviour 4/5, food quality 2/5 and quality 2/5... So overall 3/5... I had chicken Biryani (as per them it's chicken Biryani, but I genuinely believe it was a mixture of white rice with normal chicken curry with some added biriyani masala just to get the flavour), as it was a Bengali restaurant, i was expecting some authentic Bengali food but i was disappointed... Suggestion for hotel: as you are one of the only two Bengali restaurant available in the city, you have a responsibility on your shoulder. Bengali food are well known to everyone, please don't make them change their belief... Else best would be change the name of your hotel and remove that Bengali word as you are atleast not selling any Bengali food that's for sure... Also please learn some good recipes from YouTube, knowledge is free and knowledge and practice makes a man perfect, you will also be perfect may...

Food quality is very poor and hygiene is not maintained at all.

We ordered rohu fish curry during our last visit to Kanyakumari. The piece of fish was smelling terrible and caused food poisoning for our entire family. Even after complaining, the authority told that other customers did not complain.

While I try to avoid such an unhygienic place, just for my old parents we ended up going there. From next time onward, I suggest NOT to visit this restaurant. Let them suffer.

Even if you end up going there, just look at their overall ambiance including cleanliness of the floor etc that will give you the idea...

Just look at others reviews and see how this mannerless owner is replying to their comments. This clearly shows howhtheir behaviour would be when you visit. These people are spoiling Bengali's name. Avoid going there, or you will be ill-treated as if you were a beggar and they just served you a thali for free. And if you are expecting a good aythauthe Bengali meal...then forget it....
