Read moreDuring my visit to Kanyakumari, I had the chance to dine at Zam Zam , and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise.
Ambience: The restaurant offers a clean and welcoming atmosphere with a view that complements the coastal vibe of Kanyakumari. The seating was comfortable, and the decor was simple yet tasteful, reflecting local culture.
Food: The menu features a good mix of South Indian and North Indian dishes, with a strong emphasis on fresh seafood. I tried the fish curry with appam and it was excellent—flavorful, spicy, and clearly made with fresh ingredients. The masala dosa and filter coffee were also top-notch. Portions were generous and well-priced.
Service: The staff was polite and attentive, offering helpful suggestions when asked. The service was fairly quick, even during peak lunch hours.
Hygiene & Cleanliness: The place was well-maintained, with clean tables and washrooms. You can see the kitchen through a glass partition, which adds a bit of transparency to the food prep process.
Value for Money: Absolutely worth it. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of food and service.
Overall: Whether you're a tourist exploring the Vivekananda Rock or just passing through Kanyakumari, Zam Zam is a great place to stop for a hearty,...
Read moreI had both plate shawarma and roll shawarma from this restaurant, and it was by far the worst experience I’ve had.
First, the shawarma dock is kept outside with no protection from dust, pollution, or insects. Even though they had an insect killer, it’s absolutely not enough for something being prepared right on the main road. The whole setup looked unhygienic and unsafe.
As for the food, the meat was chopped into tiny pieces and drowned in mayonnaise—this wasn’t shawarma at all, it was more like a mayo chicken sandwich. I ordered 3 plate shawarmas and 1 roll, and even after being told to wait 10 minutes, I came back after 20 minutes only to see that my order wasn’t even started. I had to wait another 25 minutes before finally getting my food.
When I reached home and opened the shawarma, I was shocked to find a small beetle inside. It was absolutely disgusting. We had to throw everything away, and later that night I suffered from dysentery because of their poor hygiene.
On top of that, the staff seemed completely uninterested - grumpy faces, zero hospitality, and poor customer service overall.
I would never recommend this place to anyone - tourist or local. If hygiene, proper food preparation, and basic customer service matter to you, stay...
