Having raced to catch the morning magic of the Taj with only a hurried 6am tea in our tummies and 2 kids by our sides, we were famished and thirsty by the time we had paid our respect to Shahjahan and his beloved wife. Taj, the melting pot of many artisan cultures, was a melting pot for the peak summer sun too... Our guide and driver suggested and took us to GMB sweets which boasts of 2 eating areas: an outer 'snacky' eating area and an inner formal A/C restaurant. We were welcomed by the cool A/C air and by Mr Sachin, his breezy smile and warmth, so akin to that of a welcoming, distant cousin who proudly and excitedly treats us to his own favourite culinary finds... Bedhai, my dear friends, is a health-conscious mom's delight. The tastes of the kachori, minus the maida (refined flour). Available in multiple flavours, whole wheat and semolina textures cooked to perfection; we tried the paneer bedhai platter (served with the most amazing kaddu gravy bhaji and potato gravy) and the daal bedhai... Easily it became a topic of animated discussion with Mr Gaurav, from the circulating managing staff joining in, describing as to how difficult it is to make it just 'right' : a feat which even his experienced mom cannot accomplish to perfection... The lassi, thick and creamy, couldn't have been yummier. Full marks. An experience made complete with the final unapologetic scrape from the kulhad. Finally, it was time to go, we skipped lunch that day because, you guessed it right-- we had over-eaten. But we were back the next day (vetoed by all) en-route from Fatehpur Sikri for lunch. We met the paternal, warm and very cooperative Mr Onkar SIngh, the floor manager and greeted our old friends along with Mr Sanjay, with his bright, hospitable smiling service. We ordered a mini-thali, a dosa, an onion uttapam (both very popular among the customers around) and spring-rolls. We also ordered badam milk (a lot like the holi-waala thandai) and our scrape-a-kulhad lassi... All in all, we had a wonderful meal. The food portions were larger than expected. Some leftovers were promptly and complemantarily packed. We were seen-off with a smile. Very few restaurants will be remembered for what they represent. Food. Hospitality....
Read moreThe restaurant is located very neat to Taj Mahal . It is basically a sweet shop with restaurant attached to it . The restaurant is very small and congested .
Coming to the food - 1.roti and naan - the roti and naan were good , the size was adequate and it was sneatlh roasted . 2.curries - the curry was spicy and very tasty , the quantity is also more than enough for the price , there is depth of flavour in the curry . 3.fried rice - it was ok ok , it tastes nothing like the actual fried rice but it is still good enough if you dip it in sauce . Veg biryani - it also tasted good but nothing like an authentic veg biryani , it didn't have depth of flavours , it just tasted like a normal veg biryani made in cooker .
Overall the food taste is good but not authentic , the place is very clean and waiters are very attentive , only problem is the space the place is too small and too many tables have been cramped together , so if it is not crowded and your looking for some hygiene food with no emphasis on authentic taste then you can definitely visit this place . The prices are nominal for...
Read moreA Perfect Place for Perfect Food! From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance set the tone for a delightful experience. This restaurant truly lives up to the name of being the perfect place to have perfect food. Every dish we ordered was absolutely mind-blowing—full of flavor, beautifully presented, and made with obvious care. The hygiene standards were impressive, everything was well-maintained and in perfect order.
What made our visit even more special was the incredible hospitality of the manager, Omveer Singh. He is not just courteous and professional, but also very warm, friendly, and engaging. When he found out it was my little sister’s birthday, he personally came over, wished her with a big smile, and even made her laugh. His thoughtful gesture added a personal touch that meant a lot to us. He was constantly around, making sure every guest was comfortable and had everything they needed.
Omveer Singh is truly a gem—humble, attentive, kind-hearted, and dedicated to excellent service. People like him make dining out memorable.
Highly recommended! We’ll definitely be...
