Second visit was for lunch and it went well, food was good and the service was much better.
First visit was 3 star
Good start but a long way to go. We were there Saturday night, 5 pax. Ambience is good albeit the music being too loud. Management need to note that this is not a pub, this is a brewery. The music upstairs was very nice but the tables were all reserved. We sat downstairs by the kitchen door and it will definitely not be our first choice next time.
We tried the sampler, which might have cost Rs. 200, it had a sample of all 4 drinks they offered. As we were not beer drinkers, we took a liking to Apple cider. We gulped down two pitchers. Just a word of advise, do not go for the pitcher thinking it will save money, it will not. Its the same price, so do your math and order what everyone wants.
I really doubt if the cider had the said 4% or 4.5% alcohol stated on the menu. And now for the worst part being the food and service.
There were no major hiccups with service but the person serving us was sort of a misfit. The chicken he advised was horrible to say the least. We had to keep asking for Mayo over and over again. It was not bad but it was not as expected either.
The food was pathetic. Granted this is a brewery and most of it is finger food. However, there was no taste. We ordered about 4 dishes, the Parmesan chicken, pop corn, crispy lamb and some sort of chicken lollipops. The last two were good but the other two were horrible.
Overall, it was an experience I do not rate highly but I will definitely visit again. A lot of effort had gone into the interiors etc but it is very important to note that service and food are very important. A bit of explaining about the brewery and beer sampling could also work well to retain and get repeat customers to the brewery. The DJ definitely needs to look a bit...
Read moreI have always considered Vij Iron Hill to be one of the finest establishments, offering an exceptional experience in both cuisine and service. However, during my recent visits, I have observed a noticeable decline in food quality and service standards, which I wanted to bring to your attention.
Firstly, the Koli Chips, which used to be a signature delight, have undergone a drastic change. The taste has significantly dropped from what it once was (100/50), and the presentation was quite underwhelming. The pieces were excessively small and appeared more like leftover scraps rather than a well-curated dish. Additionally, the portion size has become noticeably smaller, yet the pricing remains unchanged, which does not reflect value for money.
Regarding the service, I found it to be quite impersonal. The staff simply placed the food on the table and walked away, requiring us to repeatedly call for assistance. There was a clear lack of attentiveness and warmth, which one would expect from a reputed establishment. Unfortunately, some interactions even bordered on rudeness, which was quite disappointing.
I wanted to address these concerns in person, but as I was with my friends, I refrained from doing so at the time. However, I strongly feel that the management might not be aware of these lapses, and I wanted to share my feedback so that necessary improvements can be made.
While Vij Iron Hill has always been a fantastic place, I sincerely hope that these aspects are looked into to ensure that its reputation remains intact. At this point, I would hesitate to recommend it for dining, except for the beverage experience.
Now iron hill food becomes...
Read moreWe traveled almost 80km to visit this place. We live in rural area which is that far. It’s a day off and need some enjoyment for daily office works myself like all other software employees whoever doing work from home. I went with my dad who is a farmer by occupation. It is an obvious and dream to many people still to take their fathers to some good restaurants like this who struggled a lot for their children life. I am also one of them and I want to take him here because I really liked the food taste when I visited earlier with my friends. But I encountered with this horrible situation that they didn’t allow us to go inside because my father is wearing Dothi (Panche). He is a farmer and doing the same since 30 years. And I don’t find any reason to not to wear the clothes what they feel comfortable because they only know to farming. At least keeping their age in mind they should have allowed. I requested them, insisted them, told them that we are here only to eat and not to drink or dance in the pub. Though they have two separate floors for pub and restaurant, they didn’t allow. I still don’t find what’s wrong in wearing Dothi and eat, which is more traditional compared to those short and torn clothes and pride for farmers occasionally. In fact they didn’t mention anywhere in their websites or in front of the place about the restrictions like this. I was not able to do anything rather than writing a review here and helping others who wants to take their family here and get disappointed like me. I feel shame on you, and hope that this will reach the management for overturning their decision on clothing...
