Just like I have mentioned in multiple platforms, Assamese Cuisine has always been my favourite. It reminds me of happier days in life. As someone from Assam, Assamese food is comfort food for me. When my partner and I landed in Guwahati from Bengaluru today (Sunday - June 22, 2025), the first thing that both of us badly wanted to do was to have a hearty Assamese meal. Now, we found this humble eatery right next to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. We saw that quite a few people have given this place positive reviews. Therefore, we decided to have our lunch here. Since, we were in the mood for having vegetarian food, we ordered two (2) Assamese Vegetable Thalis and one (1) plate of Paneer. Everything was spot on, and we ended up having a memorable lunch. Right from the ambiance to the service, and from the quantity to the taste – there was nothing that we could criticize. Both of us finished everything included in the thalis and ordered extra serving of rice. Also, the food was absolutely economical. Man, we could not have asked for anything more. We came out of the place full and satisfied! We shall be visiting this place soon enough and this is for sure! Great work...
Read moreAs a visitor to Assam, let’s just say if you can’t eat in an Assamese household, do drop by this wonderful restaurant just outside the Guwahati airport compound - you wont regret it.
Delicious food, sumptuous helpings and a wonderful staff. Was very glad I had not eaten breakfast while dropping by at Kharoli for lunch before my flight - I could dig into their fish thali, fresh rohu curry and the wonderful ‘small fish’ which brought an extra crunch into the flavoursome plate put before me.
the fish came with the most delicious and varied local vegetables as accompaniment - and touches of small chutneys including a fish chutney.
My compliments to the owner and the chefs for a very memorable meal. Kharoli is a gem not to be missed …
PS: after this very filling lunch, I didn’t eat...
Read moreThe Ambience felt authentic, they had bamboo chairs which gave it that Assamese look. I ordered a Broiler chicken thali which costs ₹310 but with GST it comes to around ₹330. This included chicken and some side dishes. They also included bamboo shoot and other authentic chutneys which i absolutely loved. They gave a beverage at the beginning im not sure if it was a lemonade or not but it tasted good. The staff were also very polite and helpful, coming to you and asking if you need anything else. A much deserved 5 star for this restaurant. Also it is air conditioned so the outside construction and pollution doesn’t really affect it much.
A recommendation would be to offer beverages as well, authentic Assamese beverages to go with the look and...
