I recently had the Veg Thali at Meridian Restaurant (মেৰিডিয়ান ৰেষ্ট’ৰেণ্ট) near Mithapukhuri in Jorhat, and it was a great experience overall. Priced at just ₹130, the thali came with a satisfying variety of freshly prepared vegetables, dal, rice and a few flavorful pickles that really enhanced the meal.
Each dish had a unique taste, not overly spicy or oily, and felt like good home-style cooking. The portion was generous and definitely enough for a complete lunch. The pickles were a highlight — tangy and perfectly balanced.
What added to the comfort was the air-conditioned dining area, which made the experience much more relaxing, especially on a hot day. The staff was polite, and service was quick and efficient.
The only reason I’m giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that the thali could be even better with the inclusion of a sweet or curd. But at ₹130, it’s absolutely worth the price.
Highly recommended if you’re in Jorhat and looking for a budget-friendly, satisfying vegetarian meal in a cool and clean...
Read moreThe restaurant stands out for its consistently fast service, even when accommodating large groups of 8–12 people. Thalis are ready and served hot, with taste and quality that are noticeably above average. The overall food experience is satisfying, especially for those looking for quick and reliable meals. The quality of ingredients and prompt service make it a dependable choice for regular diners.
However, there are several drawbacks that affect the overall experience. The space is quite congested, making it uncomfortable during peak hours. There is only one wash basin with poor water flow—an issue that has remained unresolved for the past 4–5 years—leading to queues just for washing hands. Most importantly, the veg thali is priced at ₹130, which feels overpriced given the basic ambience and facilities. Similar meals are available at more affordable rates across Jorhat, making the pricing a...
Read moreI visited this place for lunch with my 12 year old daughter. She opted for veg thali with chicken dry fry while I decided to settle for steamed Momos. The veg thali had lot of items and everything was tasty. The dry fried chicken was a hit with my daughter addicted to KFC. The staff was very well behaved and hospitality was top notch. Since the thali contains lot of items, portions are small, understandably to avoid wastage but if some likes some item and asks for an extra helping, the waiters look happy to oblige. Service was quick for lunch items but Momos came late. Unfortunately, Momos were dry inside and below par. The chutney accompanying the Momo too was very mediocre. Overall hygiene and ambience is good but the washroom is a big let down. From value for money perspective, they deserve a 4.5 out...
