This place is undoubtedly one of the best places in town currently. I was there for a birthday party a month back and on entering, it struck me as a lively place. The space is lit up in neon lights and signs and is really appealing to the eye. However it is a small area and the tables are almost very near to each other which somewhat impinges on the privacy. The bar again is very small and really not the best place to be seated as when people start pouring in it gets very cramped and uncomfortable. The washroom again was a little dirty and these are the only reasons I'm taking away .5 from the review ratings. What you should go for to Shanghai Salsa is the food. Everything we had was delectable.
For starters, there was Chicken Satay, Dim Sums and Shanghai Salsa Pork Nachos. The Chicken was really juicy and was just perfectly done. There was however more capsicum with it then I would have liked. The dim sums were not that great. They were dry but they did give a sort of balsamic reduction to go with it, however the dim sums tasted better without it. The Shanghai Salsa pork nachos were great though. The pork to nachos ratio was on point: not too much, not too less. To go with the appetisers, 2 of us had order the blue lagoon mocktail and this was the worst I've ever had. Neither of us could finish the drink as there was something funky going on in the drink. There was also a pork teriyaki to go with the alcohol and it was yummy indeed. The pork was very finely and evenly sliced up and the fat to meat ratio was spot on. For mains later, we had steamed rice and pan-fried veg noodles along with Chicken Khiao- a Thai green curry, a Pork Kaeng- Thai yellow curry and Pork Oyster. There are absolutely no complaints against the mains. Give this place a visit just for the food. A big shout out to the team who also played some good music for us to dance to after all the other...
Read moreSo, after hearing about this place from friends, finally paid a visit. We had tried the Margharita (it was good) which was served with Chickpeas on the side. The chickpeas were a little hard and could have used a little more salt. Next we had the Jamaican Jerk Chicken (served in skewers) which was very tasty and deliciously spicy. Then we had the Cajun Chicken Plato (served with a tasty garlic bread and fries). The chicken could have been a little more juicy and soft. But the gravy/sauce that was served was awesome and the fries were some of the best fries I have ever tasted. The little bit of beans salsa on the side was bland. And lastly we had the Quesadilla which didn't excite me.
A nice and rustic looking place which throws of a Mexican vibe (because of the decoration and the entire ambience), this place for me was just okay. I cannot say anything about the bar area(I am a non drinker) but the service needs to be better. The staff is not easily found and they could be a more courteous. It would be better if they are around the customers more. The service is little slow and the quantity of the food is small.
Their saving grace? Tasty food(some of them) and the drinks...
Read moreOne of the best hangout places i will recommend. It's one of my personal favourite. The food is awesome, I've tried out almost all and I've liked each dish. They have not mentioned their best seller so I'll go ahead and recommend all to try out the Pork Ribs platter. That dish literally gives me foodgasm. There offer a good variety of cocktails, the beer choice is limited though cause. I would love if they ever put a strong beer tower like magnum tower, rest you'll get all the regular drinks. Apart from that the menu prices are OK compared to other places. Next comes the ambience and I would like to say that I have never been disappointed. It's by far one of the best ambience a place can offer. The place is small but they have made the best of it. The western vibe is something to talk about. The music can be dialed down on non karaoke nights cause the music hits loud inside a small room and personally I don't like their playlist much but that's subjective. It's not somewhere where you would wanna go to party but if you're up for a relaxing weekend with your friends than I would suggest this...
