My recent visit to Anand Adyar Bhavan, a name usually synonymous with reliable South Indian cuisine, left me thoroughly disappointed, particularly concerning the food. I had high hopes, but the dishes served were a significant letdown. The dosa I ordered was surprisingly bland, lacking the characteristic crispness and authentic flavor one expects. The sambar was watery and tasted diluted, far from the rich, aromatic consistency it should have. Similarly, the chutneys seemed mass-produced and lacked freshness, with the coconut chutney tasting almost stale. The vada was excessively oily, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste, and its texture was rubbery rather than light and fluffy. were lukewarm and lacked the strong, invigorating aroma that makes it so appealing. It felt as though shortcuts were taken in preparation, compromising on the quality and traditional taste. Overall, the food experience was underwhelming. It failed to deliver the fresh, flavorful, and authentic South Indian taste that Anand Adyar Bhavan is known for. I left feeling unsatisfied and unlikely to return for a meal.

Hello, I ordered three mini meals for my family, when taking the food i suddenly saw there was a bias in plates Each mini meal is Rs.110/-, bias means for South meals and north meals they are serving the food on banana leaf, i requested i would like to change the order to South meals (140/-) the billing person said the order cannot be cancelled i just asked i want to change the order not cancel and i am ready to pay the extra amount but what he said was the order cannot be changed or cancelled you have to take what you have ordered, i asked you can change the billing rite to modify, he said i cannot do that it is billed, and he said was there is limited in food items we do like that only kind of 50mini meals 50 South meals extra, if i cancel what should I do with this three meals bill, still they were arguing only was there no solution... Once I was love to go now i hated... Service is based on bias.. so sad to say this.. if you want to know try it once.. they will welcome you based on your face and luxury you are... This is still happening...

This restaurant is situated inside Shantinagar Bus terminal. Generally, it is perceived that, restaurants inside bus terminal don't maintain hygiene, taste and service. However being known chain of restaurant, they maintained hygiene, taste and service. They have all vegetarian menu, mostly dominated by Tamilnadu Cuisine. I had dinner here, menu was south Indian dishes like Idli, varieties of Dosas, rice items . They do have chapati kurma and Poori. I had ghee rost dosa, dosa was crispy, 3 varieties of chutney was served. Taste is just ok . Hot sambar was also there. Thry have sweet section separate. When it comes to seating, they do have self service and service section. Dining hall was maintained clean . Service is faster. Toilet cleanliness needs improvement. Overall, good restaurant for quick bite or hygiene food near bus terminal. Parking is common parking, they don't have excusive parking. I visited during weekdays, hence seats were available and no waiting either at cash counter or service counter.

High-Class Ambience, Low-Class Culinary Adventure at A2B – Shanthi Nagar

Walked into Adyar Ananda Bhavan Sweets India Pvt Ltd, BMTC Bus Terminal – Shanthi Nagar, with high hopes. The ambience screamed “high class” so loudly, I almost expected the food to join in. Spoiler: it didn’t.

Ordered South Indian meals at 12:51 PM during lunch hours. Bill: ₹178.50 — for self-service. Thought it might be worth it. Nope. The food wasn’t even hot. The menu claimed “South Indian” but the plate said “Cuisine Confusion.”

The star of the disaster was the Thithi Vade, which looked and tasted like it was made two days ago and preserved in the freezer — possibly for historical research. Honestly, I’ve had better, hotter, and tastier food at small roadside joints.

High-class hotel serving low-class food is not what A2B should be. Worst A2B experience ever. Definitely avoiding this branch in the future.

“Came for South Indian meals, left with confusion — food was cold, vade was ancient, and the only thing hot was my disappointment.”

“High-class ambience, low-class food — even my ₹178.50 felt insulted.”

“If cold food and stale vade are your thing, welcome to fine dining at A2B Shanthi Nagar.”

“They served confusion on a plate — not South Indian, not North Indian, just disappointment.”

“The only thing authentic here is how genuinely bad the food tastes.”

“Expectation: South Indian Feast 🍛 Reality: Archaeological Exhibit 🥶”

“₹178.50 — not for the food, but for the disappointment experience.”

“When the menu says ‘South Indian Meals’ but the chef says ‘Surprise!’”

“Self-service? Yes. Self-respect after eating here? No.”

“Vade so old, it probably remembers the last bus that left Shanthi Nagar.”

“Hot meals? Not here. The only thing hot is the tea I’m spilling in...

Dear A2B Team,

I think this was my last visit to your restaurant as i have faced worst experience and no respect for the customer by the staff of Shanthi Nagar A2b. I have been visiting A2b from last 8 years and always like the food and hospitality.

Tonight, I along with my family was celebrating birthday of my brother-in-law and was loaded with few items which we never ordered and was told by waiter sir it will be deducted from his salary. we accepted to support the poor guy . The item ordered was 1 Mali Kofta and 1 Butter naan as this was for my small kids and rest ordered Dosa and uthappam. to our surprise was we were served with 8 Butter Naan' and we thought it would be someone's else order given to us by mistake, but the waiter told us it was our order only and can't be returned else will be deducted from his wages or salary. we said Ok to it as we did not want to spoil anyone's mood and didn't want to burden the poor guy.

we ordered few 4 Kinley's water bottles and were given 5 the last bottle was never consumed and we decided to return this however Mr. Syed ur Rehman ( at the billing i think he was the manager ) taught us a lesson as this was billed and it was guest responsibility to manage it. I want to understand why sealed water bottles can't be returned, what we never ordered was charged to us and not sure is this a fair business practice. I felt this is cheating and no only this i was been told to do...

Having heard about this chain of restaurant, we decided to give it a try.

Easy to navigate. Decent parking.

Now coming to food- We weren't aware that there are 2 different sections: self-service and other fine dining. We sat at the outermost section which was self service and were told that need to change tables for fine dining. Since, we were with guests, we went to fine dining on the ground floor. Now, we ordered few dishes and meals as well- both North and South Indian. We were informed that North Indian food will be served on upper level only. Again, we changed table and went on upper level. Order was placed and food served. Food quality was decent. Quantity was sufficient- one portion of butter rice can be had by one person only. Luckily we had ordered number of dishes so didn't feel the pain of having ordered less.

Staff didn't take care of customers with meals since they had to wait for a long time for first serving as well as subsequent servings. Felt bit sad for guests here.

Desert was decent.

Issues: Arrogant staff. Table didn't have spoons and forks. Tissue paper were absent. Reluctancy to provide finger bowls.

Good for people who are traveling and want to have quick bite.

Can we suggest people to visit frequently-...
