An Honest and Painful Experience at Anju’s Café, Ranga Shankara
As a regular visitor to Anju’s Café at Ranga Shankara, Bangalore, I’ve always appreciated the warm, artistic vibe of the place—a space where my one-year-old could explore comfortably, even relaxing barefoot or in his tiny sandals on the table while we shared peaceful moments together .
Today, however, I was deeply shocked and hurt by the behavior of the café owner. My baby, as always, was calmly seated on the table with his footwear on, and apparently the people have problems with it. Suddenly, the owner approached us with unnecessary aggression, reprimanding us for the way my child was seated. Her manner was not only rude but startling, especially given the presence of a toddler. She later justified her tone by saying he could have fallen—but any genuine concern could have easily been communicated with kindness and respect.
What’s most disappointing is that despite being regular customers, we were treated with hostility rather than understanding. As any parent would agree, toddlers are curious and expressive, and a little empathy goes a long way. Her approach felt heartless and completely out of line with the café’s otherwise calm ambience.
While the food and space continue to be commendable, the behavior I witnessed today makes it hard to call Anju’s Café a welcoming place. One person's insensitivity can truly alter the experience, and sadly, today it did. This incident left me hurt enough to pen down this honest review in hopes of better treatment for others...

I used to really love this place. I was there like 2 or 3 times every week. But now, I'm super bummed out because I know I'll never go back. The way the cafe owner acted was just not okay at all. Ranga Shankara should reassess their choice of tenants.
Here's what happened during my visit:
Date of Visit: 31st March 2024 Time: Around 6:25 PM
My friend and I went to the cafe around 6:20 in the evening. We just wanted some tea and snacks. It was pretty busy, but we found a table after waiting about 5 minutes. We sat down and were trying to decide what to order when my phone rang. It was an urgent call, so we had to take it.
We were only on the call for about 7 minutes. But then, out of nowhere, the cafe owner comes over and asks us to leave the table. I told her we hadn't even ordered yet, but she was kind of rude about it. And then she drops this bomb on us, saying we'd been there for over an hour and it was too late to order now.
Not only was this inaccurate (we had only been there for about 15-20 minutes), but her tone was extremely condescending. Despite my attempts to clarify the situation, she remained dismissive and unpleasant.
As a result of this experience, my friend and I decided to leave immediately. It's disappointing to see such poor customer service, especially from a place I used to enjoy visiting regularly. I cannot recommend this cafe to others, and I won't...
Read moreI like the echo system of the restaurant and food. Many a times I have spent lot of time for study and discussion with my laptop . Met many a times theaters fans and celebritiy. Recently I had very bad experience and was disappointed with the cafeteria lady owner . One of the weekend evening while I was studying with some food in the restaurant. The lady owner came to my desk table and asked me to VACATE the PLACE if I am NOT USING THE CAFETERIA although I was using it with my food. I was forced to leave the place only for Theater people to get accommodated although I have not finished my food consumption . I request the management convey with a specific display board for the people who visit this restaurant like me for enjoying food along with study,work or even reading books is allowed or not and if allowed with what terms and conditions so that dignity of the people are protected. At this moment I am feeling like I should not visit this restaurant any time in the future .If I am wrong please correct me otherwise do not make other visitors to suffer like me. I appreciate the management of Rangashankara theater and restaurant to communicate to the public what was the ideology of establishing this restaurant .
