Review by our Team Ghatotkatcha Mayuri, meaning peacock. Mayuri has spread it's wings from JC Road to JP Nagar to make another successful landmark for Andhra style food. 35 years of excellence, well there are other places too, this is one of the most underrated places in the city. Mayuri in JP Nagar is now equipped with a full restobar too, how about you enjoy fancy cocktails along with the food or go with the regular Andhra chilli chicken with a Beer. First thing we notice here is the fantastic service, from the greeting to when you leave. Influencer or not, the staff is very hospitable, if you are under their roof, they take care of you very well. Coming to the food, how do I begin the awesomeness of the meal here.
Even if they tell you they are Andhra cuisine, they have a huge range of starters which includes Tandoor options too, which they have perfected. Chicken kalmi kebab from the Tandoor was perfect, from the marination to the roast, flavourful and delicious. Vegetarians can have Panner Tikka here. Methi Chicken, methi leaves made to a paste and marinated along with spices and cooked perfectly with notes of pepper, methi is not that dominant, rather the pepper, it's a perfectly executed dish is what I can say and is available once a week. Andhra Chilli chicken, again green chillies galore, less of curry leaves and more of chilli, a bite of it, there is the flavourful chilli then the tender chicken, well that is how it has to be. Mutton Kheema balls are very well done, perfectly deep fried minced mutton. Mutton fry is my favourite dish here, they have peices of Nalli included too, very good quality of mutton is cooked so well with red chillies and less spices, this is surely a head turner, if you like mutton, you will fall in love with this dish. So, the most celebrated chicken Sholay Kebab, chicken balls are given a bit of Indo Chinese preparation and curry leaves, this is perfect for munching along.
Isn't it a sin when we are talking about Telugu food and not including the meals? Aritaku bhojanam or Unlimited meals on a Plantain leaf for just ₹150, yes you read it right. Again, they excel in this. Meals has chutney, vegetable fry, the most amazing Pappu made with 3-4 types of spinach. I will come back here a 100 times for this pappu again, have fallen in love for this. They also have sambar, rasam and curd with rice. Accompaniments are the regular Mango pickle, podi, ghee and majjiga mirapakaya. Veg meals here is a steal deal. One should not miss it.
I will not forget the Nellore style Biryani had here. Long grain basmati rice, cooked along with hints of pepper, this is a delight with spices galore. Chicken or Mutton, meat is perfectly cooked and executed.
Coming to desserts, do not miss to have some fried ice cream which will make you come back...
Read moreVisited here on a Monday evening. It was a family visit and we were 12 pax. We got a seating with three tables joined. The ambience was good with courteous staff. The place is basically an Andhra cuisine restaurant and items are served on a plaintain leaf. We ordered a lot of items as it was a big group. Items included: Starters - Mushroom Chilly, Mushroom Sholay, Paneer Sholay, Chicken Sholay Boneless, Fish Sholay, Chicken Tikka, Day Special Chicken (Chicken 888). Main Course - Veg Hyderabadi, Paneer Lababdar, Mushroom Masala, Chicken Hyderabadi, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Rara along with Rotis and Naans. Rice Items - Veg Fried Rice, Veg Schezwan Fried Rice, Curd Rice and Ghee Rice. For quenching the thirst, we ordered their mocktails - Sun Blast, Green Angel, Water Melon with Basil, Hansalas, Rainbow Passion, Mayuri Exotica, Flavoured Lassi. The items were all good in quantity as well as tasted good as well. The only negative part would be some items in the menu unavailable due to being a weekday or other unknown reasons. Overall a good experience and must visit in this locality.
Second visit: Visited for the second time on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't crowded when we visited but got busy with time. We had the following: Masala Papad, Chicken Manchow Soup, Chicken Ghee Roast Boneless, Guntur Chicken, Chicken Ginger Tikka, Tandoori Babycorn, Chicken Biriyani, Chicken Kolhapuri, Tandoori Roti, Chicken Biriyani and Andhra veg meals, Strawberry ice cream and Gajar halwa with incr cream. For beverages, we had Goti Soda, Strawberry Mimosa, Mayuri Special, Sweet Lime Juice, Sweet and Salt Juice. Masala Papad had two papads in it and was spicy. The Chicken Ghee Roast was chinese style and I couldn't understand how it was ghee roast since there wasn't ghee flavour in it. Guntur Chicken was spicy. Manchow Soup was okay. Ginger Chicken Tikka and Tandoori Babycorn was really good and was served with mint spicy chutney and spicy onion. Onion slices were also served. Service was really quick and staff were good too. Price was slightly high for certain items. Biriyani had only one variety unlike how I saw in few Andhra restaurants. Overall a...

The rice of both the Biriyani was very similar, they use basmati rice here, due to Bengalurus love with basmati rice... but, authentic Nellore Biriyani is made with masoori rice. . This Biriyani is cooked to perfection, its 5/5 for me... the meat, the rice, both go so well with each other... you dont need salan or raith in my opinion... just plain unadulterated Biriyani... . The Chicken Sholay & Chili Chicken was the highlight on the menu !! . Service was top notch, good recommendations by the experienced staff !! . . .
