I recently ordered an aloo paratha and a thali through Zomato, enticed by a 50% discount offer. The aloo paratha was listed at ₹155, and after the discount, it came down to ₹77.50. Similarly, the thali was priced at ₹458, and with the discount, it cost ₹229. Thinking it was a great deal, I placed the order.
The food arrived, and while the taste was good, curiosity led me to check the menu prices after eating. To my shock, I discovered that the actual prices were far lower—₹60 for the aloo paratha and around ₹200 for the thali.
I felt utterly deceived. It's disheartening to realize how inflated pricing misleads customers into believing they're getting a great discount. Zomato's lack of oversight in allowing such practices is equally frustrating. It’s a reminder of how pervasive dishonest practices have become, with businesses prioritizing profits over integrity. It’s a disappointing experience in a world where trust should matter.
Conversation over the phone call with one of the restaurant partner - He says they have to pay comission to Zomato, they have to pay to Zomato delivery executive and blah blah, this is an unethical practice lots of restaurant follow, I have seen some restaurants like meghana foods who sell at same price in restaurant and through aggregators...

Read moreI ordered Thali , so will comment on that . The thali costing 155/- had small quantity of Chola , 2 tandoori roti and small quantity of rice with onion as compliment . I expected since it’s thali to have dal or other item for rice . Anyway that’s fine . Problem started when my chola got over with just 2 rotis and I didn’t have anything to go with rice , so asked for chola but got to know that I will have to order chola separately . This is quite surprising in case of thali , you first give small quantity of chola then ask to order more . I spoke with owner about it and he said since you are first one to complain , I don’t care . I am not sure if it is only me whose chola got over with just 2 rotis or anyone else also faced the issue . Food taste wise it’s not bad but at the same time neither too amazing that you would like to go again and again . Since I stay nearby I can go but not worth to...
