An ad hoc lunch plan made us walk up to here for a North Karnataka meal. After squeezing us to finding a place in this crowded lunch place, we vied for the attention of our service person, who took orders swiftly, disappearing only to reappear with five plates of meals with two rotis, one wheat and one jowar, with two curries to accompany, with a side of kosambari raita, buttermilk and a spice powder. Sadly they did not have the authentic brinjal curry to accompany the jolada / Jowar roti, nevertheless both the curries were very good for both the types of rotis which were soft and very well made. The raita was decent, fresh, and the spice power was yum and I was waiting for the bowl of rice. The rice was served with an accompaniment of buttermilk curry / Majjige huli, sambar and rasam. I spice powder options suddenly became three as a large trio of jar filled with three different varieties of spiced powder landed on our table. I loved all the three of them, especially the dal powder, which was slightly different in taste from the Andhra gunpowder/ pappula podi version and it was the highlight of the meal. So much so that I wished that they would package this and sell it for me to take it home. The majjige huli was something to definitely appreciate, mildly sour, beautifully spiced and seasoned curry, a wonderful combination with rice. I suggest you stick to the majjige huli and the podis, as the sambar and rasam were just ok, and can be avoided.
Both the roti and rice are limited, but you can always ask for more at an extra cost. There are a few sides that you could order, like us you can pick up the crispy onion pakoda and a glass of spiced buttermilk, both were extremely good and value for money. They do have some hollige as an add-on option as a sweet addition, we missed ordering that this time, maybe in a next visit,...
Read moreI recently enjoyed a delightful dining experience at this establishment. The Jolada Rotti was truly exceptional, reminiscent of comforting home-cooked food. The service was impressively quick, and the ambiance was well-maintained, capable of accommodating around 100 people. I highly recommend this place for its simple, delicious, and healthy offerings, providing an authentic culinary experience. The variety of thalis and meals are worth trying, and the courteous staff adds to the overall positive experience. With an affordable price point (Rs120 for Masala Roti Meals), it's a family-friendly spot with a comfortable atmosphere for both adults and kids. The hygiene standards are commendable, and ample bike parking on the street adds to the convenience. A definite must-visit for those seeking a genuine and enjoyable...
Read moreGood with and only menu is north Karnataka Thali. The place is super busy on any weekday afternoon as there are many corporate offices nearby. The food is good but the service is slow if you come at the peak time. They have awesome Pakodas n buttermilk. If you are a daily visitor here, u may get bored of the taste in some time as the sabzi(palya) tend to get repetitive. Tag along a kannadiga friend for better service. The staff is not very good with any other language. Damn cheap food and pretty good n hygienic for that price One of very places that offer Jowar...
