Behrouz Biriyani has been bookmarked forever on my list, and I have always wanted to try their authentic Biriyani. I was happy that I was offered to try out there yummy Biriyani.
I chose to have the Lazeez Bhuna Murgh Biryani (Boneless Chicken | Regular portion).
My order arrived well before time, in a nice tastefully designed box, that compactly contained another box of the main star, the biriyani, a small serving of raita and single serving of jamoon. A nice pack of cutlery, & after meal refresher, was aside as well in the box.
Their claim of a 'Biryani Recipe finally fragrant after 2000 years' may actually be true. Once I opened the cautiously sealed, beautifully packed box, the fragrance of this fabulous biriyani almost filled home, ALMOST raising eyebrows of a few curious neighbours.
Well, first impressions last long, and after the fabulous spread of fragrance, what impressed me was the food was piping hot. Good food tastes good when it's hot and thanks to Behrouz The Royal Biryani, full points for ensuring that the food is delivered to be served hot.
Now to the hero of the combo, the biriyani was made the way it should be, light, long grain bed of basmati rice flowing over a slightly spicy chicken gravy base.
Being a self proclaimed Biriyani Fanatic, I was curious to try this Biriyani, especially after spending some reading time on the backstory of how this recipe for unearthed. I might not be a historian to validate the backstory, but as a foodie I absolutely loved this flavoursome biriyani with beautifully chunks of boneless chucking smothered in a sea of delicious thick masala / gravy. The flavour was spot on, with a slight tinge of the Hyderabadi style along with a Lucknowi love. I would have to say it was a perfect amalgamation of the Nawabi style of Biriyani from Lucknow & Hyderabad.
It was spicy to the right proportion, at the same time very flavoursome. Great quality with a great taste. The whole spices in the Biriyani did bother me a little, with cardamom & cloves coming between me and my Biriyani, but only a little.
Also I would have preferred a few onions & veggies on my raita, but nevertheless was a great accompaniment to the yummy biriyani.
The regular portion was perfect for a glutton like me, with the wonderful jamoon playing the perfect ending to what was a great meal
My adventures with the Royal Biriyani is not going to end, it is just a start as their menu is wide & wonderful.
Keep up the great treat Behrouz Biryani am coming back for more of your...
Read moreFirst of all I wanna thank Behrouz Biryani guys for giving me an opportunity to review their food ! It's an honour guys .
I ordered MURGH MAHAKANI BIRYANI (non veg)
I have said time and again I don't like the cardboard box in which the biryani is served . The outer box is fine but the inside box in which biryani is served can be something better .Faasos has better packing they can implment the same thing ! Besides Behrouz charges much more premium compared to faasos biryani . 1.The cardboard box doesn't hold the completely topped up biryani . Opening the box like a courier packing cutting branded cellophane tape is a bit awkward when such a premium biryani is being served . There is lot of moisture inside the box and the top layer just looses the flavour .( Happens in the faasos packing too but the flavour is locked because of the airtight box ) .
Finally coming to the flavour - like I have always said I really like the Behrouz biryani flavour , their flavours are complex and in-depth with really well cooked chicken and rice . This time was no different , the MURGH MAHAKANI BIRYANI , has some really good in depth flavour . The chicken was moist and soft and just melted in my mouth . The rice was slightly dry but once it is mixed with the raita or the curry layer below it was good . The raita was a flavoured one , as it always has been . But one con is that if you like the raita the quantity is definitely no where enough for the huge quantity of the biryani . The Gulab Jamun has been improved a lot since last time , last time it was hard and didn't taste like Jamun . This time the changes have been made and definitely tasted really good .
Overall I still think Behrouz is best for non veg biryani but like I have said before because of the premium pricing once in a while maybe .
I personally feel since the Behrouz guys have achieved the consistency of taste they really need to work on other factors like packing , quantity , pricing and maybe some new dishes with different flavours ( right now the flavours are distinguishable but not different).
Points cut for packing and loss of flavour...
Read moreLet me explain in detail (Ghos biriyani is my order) ! Promotion n marketing campaign - very good and it has reached all the biriyani n food lovers with great expectations. I bet biriyani lovers cannot stop themselves without trying at least once with the way they are advertising.
Delivery and packing - delivered on time and quite an impressive packing.
Price tag - Even though single biriyani cost is near to family packs from other good biriyani joints, it will not stop foodies without a try.
Taste n looks - After I unbox, I loved the way it looked with almond toppings, it made my expectations reached high. When I had first bite, I felt it's just regular mutton biriyani with lots of masala (non spicy of course) underneath rice layer. Average taste I must say, considering the hype n price.
Quality - Quality of rice is okay n mutton is soft but not that tasty compared to other biriyanis I tried till date.
Quantity - very much disappointed looking at the quantity of single biriyani.. with a price tag of 380 rupees. 3 medium pieces were given, and if we spend same amount at any famous biriyani outlet, I'm sure they will fill your plate with mutton.
Best part is Gulab Jamun, I just loved it and must appreciate the cook who prepared it! It is soft and consistent. No hardness inside, it doesn't split unnecessarily. Taste is really good..
To conclude, Behrouz biriyani is very expensive with low quantity n better quality. Spicy stuff beneath should be reduced. Marketing budget should be diverted to quality n price of the biriyani, as mouth publicity will give long time...
