LoveDale Homestay Bangalore — Hotel in Bengaluru

Stayed here for about a month. This is not the place for families. Should be okay for bachelors. Here is the detailed review of my experience.

Initially before moving in (about 4 days before), We mutually agreed on a call and fixed a price since it was a long stay. But later on the day of checking in, I gave a casual call to him saying that I would be moving in today. Instead of giving a warm welcome, he raised the price for the stay and also told it all depends on the demand of the room. He took advantage of my position and priced it higher. This didn't sound good.

Regarding the stay, here are the things that I noticed-

There is no clean drinking water available at that place. The water stinks and it can never be used for cooking too. This is a very basic need of every individual and the manager should ensure he supplies at least a drinkable water. I notice this on every weekend that the house keeping guys smoke a lot and they do this inside the house itself instead of going out. The smoke surrounds the entire house and takes days to settle down. It becomes unbearable and I need to let the manager know. This doesn't stop here. The same is repeated in all consecutive weekends. There is no proper lock for the main entrance. Anyone can unlock the main door with any key/even a coin. Only the rooms have proper locks. I had booked two more rooms on one of the weekday (April 27th) as my in laws were coming in. This was really a bad day. They noticed that one of the house keeping guy was totally drunk and he couldn't even respond to them properly. I was not there to receive them. This was a disaster and I had to explain the relatives for all their questions. I was planning to stay for another week but had to leave the place because of this. The manager told me that they entertain only families there and I don't to have worry about the stay. I was concerned on this aspect as I was staying with my wife. In one of the weekend, I noticed that a bunch of youngsters had come there to party. The washing machine does a bad job. The dirt never goes and I had to run the machine with intensive setting to make it work better. During this time, some of my cloths got coloured including the towel that they supplied. The manager charged me for the towel as the color got changed. The two rooms which I booked for my relatives to stay didnt even had towels and soaps to freshen up. Cigarette ashes were lying under the bed. Both these rooms had to share one common bathroom. And he had priced me very high. There is no power backup. With this scorching heat, there were multiple power cuts and we had to cope up with it.

At the time of checkout (6:00 am) along with my relatives, the house keeping guy was still drunk and I couldn't do much other than to leave.

The manager demands for cash payment and doesn't encourage electronic payment. He doesn't reduce the price either. I preferred to do an online transfer. He also demands a 10-15 days advance payment.

I stayed at LoveDale Homestay for 2 months. The place was very comforting for my husband and me. There were two buildings- one for AC rooms and the other for non-AC rooms. We went to Bangalore in June'17. Keeping the weather in mind, we decided to go for non-AC room, LE-2 to be exact.

Few good things were:

1. Airy room with greenery around
2. Kitchen access where I could cook my own food with my own vessels
3. I could do my laundry as washing machine was available
4. Peaceful place to stay as there wasn't much disturbance
5. House keeping boy was available to help clean the room as well as kitchen. He cleaned the room on basis of our demand. Please ensure to keep reminding him whenever you want him to clean the room or change the bedsheets.
6. For drinking water the UV water purifier was available
7. There was never a water shortage. Also, water geyser was available in the bathroom of our room which we could use at any point of time
8. For any kind of issue the owner - Dev - always stayed on top of it to get it resolved and made our stay more comfortable. Unlike other places, he wouldn't only resolve the issue but would get back to us to ensure everything is fine after the issue is resolved. I would say that was the best part of staying at LoveDale. He kept connecting with us at certain intervals to check if we were going through any issue. His hospitality has been great for us and it was even better than 3 star and 4 star hotels. We stayed in one such hotel before we stayed at LoveDale. Thanks to Dev for that.

Few bad experiences:

1. Electricity was the problem in the area. It used to go and come back 3-4 times a day. So if you are the one who is not okay with it, you can take AC room which is available in other building of LoveDale. That building has power backup.
2. The cook wasn't very kind.
3. Food was okay. The veg dish was 120/- The quantity of curry that was been given was very less. On the day of check-out, one of the person staying in other building(where the cook used to prepare food) she told me that food was unlimited. That came to me as a surprise as I was never been told by cook nor house keeping guy. Whenever I ordered veg thali, they got limited items in the dish, they used to hand-over the thali and go to the other building. Most of the time I used to cook my own food due to that. Cooking was managed by the workers, owner didn't have any involvement. So that can be excluded while counting on a place to stay. Additionally, there were plenty of options available for food nearby.

Overall my experience at LoveDale has been great. Just make sure if you have any issue, text or WhatsApp the owner if it doesn't get resolved by staff in time. He will make sure it is resolved in...

“Lovedale Home stay” by the name we thought it would be great. But things started to change once the staff denied us breakfast which was included then later agreed to it saying “we don’t normally take bookings from Trip advisor or MMT or AirBnB” what a hospitality. First day was bearable and second day too as we got the entire floor to ourself with no bookings in any rooms. We had another hotel booking for next couple of days but we agreed to stay here with an extension which the staff agreed to and told us to pay 1700 per night for 1 bhk home which we did. Later that evening hotel staff told us that 1 bhk isn’t available and we will provide you a better option with entire 2 bhk to which we agreed but the room was so horrible and no AC it was not refurbished or painted, one room even smelled bad. Horrible experience and the staff & owner were having a disagreement where the owner accepts the 1 bhk which was for us from MMT and denied cancelling it and staff has already given a word to us. At last we had to spend night in 2 bhk worst nightmare ever. Over all experience poor and they bought low quality food from a nearby hotel saying it’s breakfast. Owner denied talking to us.
