Being a foodie and a Darjeelinge I couldn't help but to write my experience at Chula Cafe today. Except for the ambience everything else don't even deserve a single ⭐. Had heard about the place a lot from word of mouth, Instagram etc... but our experience was awful. First of all when we entered there was no one at the reception, couple of tables were engaged then. After waiting for a while a lady came and approached us and asked us to scan the QR code for the menu. For starters we ordered Selroti with Aludum, pork chilli and a glass of Chang (Nepalese brewed drink). We tried to order some beef dishes which was on the menu but they didn't have any beef dishes at all.It did take quite a time for the food to arrive. The Selroti was hot, Aludum looked ok and Chang was served in a medium brass glass. Once the Selroti started to get cold it got so hard that we had to chew our teeth off and the Aludum was ok. After sometime the pork chilli also was served but the cut pieces was very small and too much capcicum and aginamoto was present.Post that we ordered veg momo and Darjeeling style pork chowmin. Meanwhile a group of teenagers came who seem to know the lady there and post that she was busy with them a not catering to us or other customers present.Again after some good amount of wait time the Darjeeling style pork chowmin came. As soon as I saw it I didn't feel like eating it as it didn't look like Darjeeling style at all, but still I tried it and it was so bland. Then came the turn of Veg momo which was out inside a bamboo dimsum box and just left it on the table. The lady didn't even bother to tell that it's the Veg momo that we ordered. The worst thing we ate at Chula Cafe was this as the outer covering was too thick and the filling inside was as equal to nothing as they had over cooked it.Even a small group of girls came and left without having anything as the cafe didn't have the dishes which was mentioned in the menu but not available to serve. Well, it's not that I want to write all this but the experience was so bad I couldn't help. Hopefully the owners will ponder to the honest feedback and try to improve the customer service and food in the...
Read moreFirst time I heard about this place, it was from a co worker and he described the food as exceptional but he tells that about all the places he visits. Few days later I came across on Instagram on which the owner of this Chulha cafe did. I was fascinated with his stories about how he bought a van and started buying veggies directly from the farm, how she wasn't happy that few of the ingredients were authentic taste wise and so she tied up with farmers to grow the authentic stuff. That tells you she is passionate about serving tasty food just the way he wants everyone to experience. So today I ordered a mustard leaves with meals delivery to try it out for my self. The only other meals experience that I had was with box8. This was definitely far better than that. Only thing is that the quantity was a little bit less. Could have filled up with more rice . It would have been the right portion of food that I eat for dinner. But no minus star for that. I guess it must be the right portion for others.
Edit: So I ordered spicy chicken meals today and seems like they took my suggestion of adding a bit more rice or dal 😁. This also like the earlier one, tastes so...
Read moreHonestly had a good time. I was craving some pork dishes so went for pork noodles as I was hungry. It was good. Cooked well and pork tasted good. I really liked the atmosphere and service. It was quiet and I got my food quickly. Also the guys there have good music taste (had no idea that john mayer covered a Beyonce song named xo) and one of them played guitar which I liked it personally a lot. So in and all its a good place you can visit alone and enjoy also you would be lucky if the guy plays guitar and you can enjoy it. 10/10 songs choices though I would come back to collect the songs and eat some nice buff...
