It is a tradition that most dishes in Japanese cuisine, if not all, is a blend of an element from the the sea and an element from the land. And we do not have a better example of that tradition than a Sushi 寿司 / 鮨 The History of Sushi began alongside the Japanese rice paddy fields, where fish was fermented with rice vinegar, salt and rice, with the rice often discarded. Soon people began to eat the rice as well along with fish, which evolved to the form that we see and consume today. Many do not know, Sushi is the most famous Japanese dish outside, than IN Japan. No doubt, it is the most popular, but it is always considered an authentic peasant dish and is enjoyed as a part of celebrations.
While my previous order from Daily Sushi involved Temaki Sushi, this time I ordered a Salmon Nigiri Sushi. Nigiri roughly translates to two fingers, and it involves a cluster of rice, in the thickness equates to two fingers with a thinly sliced piece of salmon draped on top. The deliciously pinkish peach salmon looked absolutely fresh and tasted like the sea.
Holding the tiny pink goodness and double dipping them in Soy sauce and wasabi mix, with a sliver or two of the gari (Japanese ginger pickled in sweet vinegar) is an absolute bliss, something that can be enjoyable only if the fish is that fresh and kudos to Daily Sushi to maintain such impeccable quality in your artisanal sushi creations.
The general rule is that a Japanese meal should contain five colors: black, red, green, white, and yellow, and my Bento was no different, it had these beautiful colours perfectly balanced in aesthetics and bursting with flavor.
My Bento from Daily Sushi contained the deliciously deep fried Chicken Karaage 唐揚げ on a bed of lettuce, with the Kimchi and Radish Pickle sharing a grid. The Yuzu salad was on the side with another grid containing the rice, which held the egg rolls and the deep fried Gyoza glazed in teriyaki sauce on top. The Karaage was absolutely fantastic, sweet probably from marination in Japanese sweet vinegar. This version here was very similar to Dakgangjeong, the Korean fried chicken, usually mildly sweet with the usage of milk or honey. The rice was cooked perfectly and a different addition to the Karaage. The egg rolls were just perfect, with all those multiple layers, with the salad bringing in that sharp citrusy tartness to the whole meal.
Udon is a type of thick wheat noodle popular in Japanese cuisine, usually served hot in a mild flavoured broth. The origins of this noodle date back to 9th century when three priests travelled from Japan to China to study Buddhism. They were inspired by a type of Chinese noodle called “cu mian” and created the udon back in Japan. It is a very thick and chewy noodle that I have been meaning to try for sometime. Recently tried out the the Seafood Udon with Prawn Tempura from Daily Sushi
I absolutely loved the broth which was extremely flavoursome, the prawn tempura was superbly crispy and delicious. The udon noodle in the bottom was layered with a delicious layer of ingredients including spring onions, shiitake mushrooms, some dashi, katsuobushi or bonito flakes.
The broth was enjoyable as such, but somehow when mixed with the rest of the ingredients, maybe the bonito flakes overpowered the broth’s original flavor and made it a little less appetizing for me. I did not like the chewy texture of udon noodles, I do understand that it is traditionally made that way.

Boasting an elegant yet cozy ambience, this restaurant promises an unforgettable dining experience. On my recent visit, I ordered the Ebi Prawn Tempura Maki roll, Pork Chashu Tonkotsu Ramen, and Teriyaki Chicken Wings, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of amazing.
Upon stepping inside Daily Sushi, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The dim lighting and tastefully decorated interior created a tranquil ambiance, perfect for a relaxing meal. The friendly staff promptly guided me to my table and provided excellent service throughout the evening.
To begin the culinary journey, I opted for the Ebi Prawn Tempura Maki roll, and it did not disappoint. The roll was artfully presented, showcasing the vibrant colors of the fresh ingredients. The combination of succulent prawn tempura and creamy avocado, wrapped in perfectly seasoned sushi rice, was a burst of flavors in every bite. The accompanying dipping sauce added a tangy twist, elevating the taste even further. It was a delightful start to the meal.
Next up was the much-anticipated Pork Chashu Tonkotsu Ramen. As the bowl was placed before me, I was immediately drawn to the rich and aromatic broth. The broth, simmered to perfection for hours, displayed a deep umami flavor that harmonized beautifully with the tender slices of chashu pork. The ramen noodles had the ideal texture, neither too soft nor too firm, and absorbed the flavors of the broth impeccably. The addition of a soft-boiled egg, bamboo shoots, and scallions enriched the dish with complementary textures and tastes. This bowl of ramen was truly a comforting delight, showcasing the mastery of the chef.
The Teriyaki Chicken Wings served as the perfect accompaniment to the meal. The chicken wings were expertly glazed with a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce that coated each piece evenly. The meat was tender and juicy, making the wings an irresistible treat. The garnish of sesame seeds and green onions added a touch of freshness to the dish. The combination of the sweet teriyaki glaze and succulent chicken wings was a delightful contrast that left me craving for more.
Throughout the meal, I was thoroughly impressed with the impeccable service and attention to detail. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and graciously addressed any questions I had, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.

Read moreWe went to this place looking at the reviews but we were slightly disappointed with the experience. Even though we had made a reservation, there wasn't a table available when we arrived at the mentioned time. We waited for around 10 mins when a table for 2 got empty, however we were 3 people. They offered an extra chair and told us that they would move us to a bigger table once available. This is acceptable as you cannot predict how and when a table will be available considering different guests spend different amounts of time. The place is quite small and most tables are close together. And due to the high density of people it was very loud too. We were finding it difficult to understand what the staff was telling due to the loud noise. We ordered a sushi and temura prawns as starters hoping we would be moved to a bigger table later, however we realised that the bigger tables were assigned to other guests who were coming in. The service was super slow, even water was served just a minute before the starters arrived. Another issue was the digital menus. The dish names were already so similar and confusing and there was no way to book mark or add items. We were continuously searching for the item to tell the staff when they came to take the order. A simple menu would have made things easy for all. The sushi and starters were good though it took quite long for the sushi to be served. Sushi was served with wasabi, ginger and soya sauce and they were nice. We also tried a pork ramen, pork dosirak and a chicken katsu donburi. While the ramen was great the dosirak and donburi were quite disappointingly. Both were excessively sweet and had overpowering sweet sauce. Till the end we were seated in the two seater table and it was quite a struggle with the food. While the food is good, the entire service and experience did not feel worth the price. There are some other sushi restaurant in HSR with better ambiance...
