House of Commons has been in Bangalore for quite a good time now and their second outlet at HSR has a lot of seating space, awesome ambience, sports screening options and some delectable food to offer. I visited the place with a set of friends who like to drink and eat at equal levels so we ended up trying a lot of items. The items tried go by like this: Drinks:- Mai Tai - Its a Rum based drink and hats off to the barman in getting the texture correct for the drink, its a must try drink if you like Rum. Litchi Margarita - Subtle, Mild and fruity. Had a lot of tequila and mixed with litchi, it became a delight. Sex on the Beach - Served in a gastronomical flask, supposed to be sipped by a suction pipe, the vodka content makes it a very strong drink. Jacob's Creek White Wine - Classic...is all I have to say about this drink. This was the first time I tried white wine since I had a knowledgeable friend along with me. Just delicious.
Starters:- Veg: Peanut Masala - A perfect snack to munch on with your drinks. French Fries - The regular. Veg Nachos - Laced with sour cream, it was a delight for our tastebuds. Mushroom Loaded Fries - Heavy, lots of shrooms and cheese fries. Mezze Basket - An average take on a mezze platter, hummus was average and could have been better. Angari Paneer Tikka - Tender, nicely marinated and cooked to perfection! Mediterranean Garden Pizza - Loved it! Never tried such a combination where the combination of vegetables brought out the real taste of the pizza. A must Try.
Non-veg: Mixed Non-veg Platter - A mix of 7 different preparations, very good quantity for a platter and if you're in a group...you should definitely order this. Peri Peri Chicken - Peri peri marinated chicken cooked to tenderness will entice your tastebuds. Thai Pepper Garlic Prawns - Delicioussssssss................... A must try for prawn lovers. Basil Flavoured chicken dumplings - A classic take on dumplings, prepared in steam baskets and served in the same, the filling and coating was very well suited.
Main Course:- Veg: Butter Garlic Naan/Roti/Kulcha Kumbh Hara Pyaza
Non-veg: Kadhai Chicken - For a pub, the kadhai chicken served was really good and can be tried if you're looking to have a meal there.
After all this food, it was around 10pm, the place was bustling with people and FIFA game cheers was all around. The atmosphere at HOC, HSR is worth the price you pay for. If you're in a group or even just with someone special, this place can be your choice.
Desserts:- Ice- Cream Gulab Jamun - Really good jamuns, served hot. Walnut Brownie - Topped with ice-cream, it tasted really well. Caramel Custard - The texture of the custard could have been slightly better.
Overall, House of Commons, HSR offers you awesome service, drinks laden with lots of love and an atmosphere that will take out all the stress out of you if you're looking to just...
Read moreWent for a lunch here on a weekend afternoon. There is valet available and the place is quite easy to locate. Its setup over 2 floors with the above one being a smoking zone. The ambiance is relaxed with dim lighting and soothing music playing in the background. We decided to get seated at the upper level.
Drinks : Tried some signature drinks as mentioned below which were pretty well crafted.
Bangalore sunset is a delightful and potent cocktail. Its made with vodka, rum, gin, tequila, red wine, peach and lemonade. A great option for sure.
Hello Yellow : Bright cocktail made with vodka, orange juice, peach, apricot, mint sprigs and lime. This is another signature drink that should not be missed.
HOC Special Margarita: For the first time I tried a margarita which had an entire beer bottle placed upside down. Pretty interesting drink.
Coffee Toffee: This one is a mocktail that contains chocolate sauce, butter scotch, coffee, milk and vanilla syrup. Good drink if you don't consume liquor.
Food : Tried a bunch of appetizers as mentioned below:
HOC Special Salad : If you like trying out salads, this one is a pretty straightforward and great option. Light, breezy and fresh.
Thai Chicken Satay: I am huge fan of satay and immediately ordered it. Served with a citrus dip, this is a win-win appetizer.
Grilled Lemongrass Chilli Fish - Perfectly cooked fish, marinated in chilly lemongrass mix and topped with a squeeze of lemon. Pure bliss.
Mutton Ghee Roast : One of the staff members recommended it and thankfully I went for it. The masalas are completely on point and the meat is juicy and succulent. Go for it.
Peri Peri Chicken Tacos : The spicy Schezwan sauce used in them is absolutely amazing. I loved them.
Desserts : In desserts we ordered opera cake, mango panna cotta and blueberry cheesecake. Opera cake was the best of the lot and must be tried out. The panna cotta wasn't wobbly and so technically wasn't the right term for it. It was decent though. The cheesecake was luscious, creamy and went great with the berry compote.
Overall, this was a fantastic outing for me. The staff was super attentive and someone was always around for orders or suggestions. The pricing is reasonable and the ambiance is buzzing. Do visit here, highly...
Read moreLocated at HSR layout, this place shares the same building with Shift Pub just near to BDA Complex.
The place can accommodate around 150 pax at a time with a fully operational bar on the house spread across 2 floors.
The ambience is done right that lets you forget the worries of the day and have fun.
The service is pretty fast. One observation though-when the whole hotel industry is grappling with staff shortage this place boasts of enough or rather more than required staff -that too motivated and happy to serve staff-a asset to the place. The management has done something right to retain a asset and backbone-i.e HAPPY STAFF.
Parking is a pain as the road on which it is located is very busy and falls short on the parking space.
