Today's lunch was at the Farmhouse. Quite a unique place tucked beside a busy road in Whitefield. Provides an excellent ambience and the dining space gives the feel of a barnhouse-converted-into-an-eatery kind of feeling. It's owned by a German gentleman.
Ambience - 9/10
The food and service was not great, but before I talk about it, I must mention that on sharing the feedback, the owner made it sure to have a conversation with me to offer an explanation, although, I think he should have inquired more into the feedback. His take was that he was running short of one chef and one server, but I don't think those were the exact reasons. Let me tell you why.
Food - 8/10 Service - 4/10
We ordered for Canapy Prawns in Olive Oil, Meatballs in White Saice and Ice Tea for starters. Truly superb and lip-smacking. Iced Tea served 15mins after the starters were served. We asked for an additional portion of bread rolls to enjoy the meatballs and the prawns, and that took about 20 minutes and 3 reminders. The server told me that the bread rolls come from a different department and hence took time. Mind it that rolls were cold and no butter was served alongwith.
For main course, we ordered a Mexican Burger, Meatloaf with Mustard Sauce, Chicken Schnitzel and Craftsman Breakfast with pulled Chicken.
The Burger patty was well done but under-seasoned, but that could be different from one chef to the other, especially when one is used to factory-burgers from Mac and Burger King. The pork meatloaf was good. The Chicken Schnitzel was horrible. The breaded chicken breasts were not at all juicy and in fact reminded me of bathroom slippers. The accompanying mushroom sauce was just about OK. The Craftsman Breakfast was nothing like what it could have been. Two slices of homemade bread topped with pulled chicken, onion relish and one single egg sunny-side up. Single Egg... Please! And that too, the sunny-side up was cold, the yolk was hard and bottom portion of the egg was over-cooked to the extent of making it hard. The pulled chicken was either a day old or the chef had made a special effort in drying up all the juices making it taste like shredded roasted chicken.
Having said this, I would visit them again just to ensure that they get an opportunity to do a wonderful job which I believe the restaurant has the...
Read moreFarmhouse Kitchen and Bakery in Whitefield, Bengaluru, teleports you to a nice little farmhouse with greenery all around you. I was really surprised to see this kind of setup, with good interiors, amazing landscapes around the house, and some spectacular food too. You have a decent amount of parking space within the property, the staff are very polite and helpful, and yes, getting here from far can be tiring, considering the traffic you may encounter.
Prawns Canary is grilled prawns served in a hot olive oil pan, with loads of garlic, chilli, and parsley. The fabulous dish went well with the soft, small buns that they had provided, very light on our stomach but rich in taste. Garlic Chicken Leg served with veggies and rice was decent in terms of the garlic sauce that was provided, the meat was on the harder side, should have been softer, not the best main course dish here at Farmhouse Kitchen and Bakery.
Curry bun with Achari Chicken was no doubt the best dish here. Innovation is at its best, so fresh, filling, and delicious. Served with potatoes and a salsa dip, you should check out their curry buns. You have both veg and non-veg fillings, a meal on its own. We were eager to try out more buns, but we were full. Mochaccino was good, a good cappuccino with some chocolate sauce, and a small cookie.
With many dessert options, we went for the Tiramisu cheesecake. Although tiramisu was top-notch but we felt the flavors were all over the place as the combination of tiramisu and cheesecake made it very heavy on the tummy. Would have preferred to have just the tiramisu, but there is always a next time.
Do come by for the delicious food, take a walk around, and have a really peaceful time here at Farmhouse...
Read moreIt’s very sad to write this here but I was forced to, Farmhouse has been my favourite place to be, great ambiance, great food and amazing service however today it was disappointing. I visited to the cafe to celebrate my niece’s birthday, we arrived there at 9:10 PM as soon as we entered we were told to place the order even before receiving the menu as the kitchen was going to close by 9:30- understood! We wanted to eat Aglio Olio Spaghetti but we actually struggled to make the order taker understand that it’s not available in spaghetti that’s fine but why is he refusing to serve the same in penne, he was continuously saying Aglio Olio sauce is not available, later we requested him to check with the chef, he came back and said Penne is possible however he was confused the whole time we placed the order, he was repeatedly saying the wrong order inspite of us requesting him to write it down to his convenience. Sharp at 10 PM, some other steward comes to us and says at 10 the gate will close, we were still left with some food however I understand it was time for them to go home and paid the bill, but we were forced to leave without finish our meal, then I wanted to speak to the manager regarding the same and I happened to meet Peter, the most arrogant guy, has no way to respond, doesn’t even know how to talk to a customer!
My whole intention to write this is to highlight the decreasing quality, food was horrible and service was on the top ! Look into it if you can, else you will end up loosing all your customers, it was my last time in that cafe, Peter said it’s fine :)
Your staffs earlier were just too friendly ! The quality has gone low, it was bad ! Baad...
