TL;DR Absolutely delicious pizzas with great toppings and sourdough crust. Equally delicious vegan and vegetarian options. A must try.
We have had pizzas from The Pizza Bakery delivered to our home a few times and absolutely enjoyed them. The pizzas were delivered hot, had perfectly baked sourdough crust and the box had the reheating instructions to maintain the taste and structure of the pizza. They have vegan pizzas as well which were fantastic too. We had the Vegan Sicilian by Chef Sarah and the Vegan Popo’s Delight and like them. With such great delivery experience we wanted to try them at the restaurant.
The dine-in experience was even better. They have limited seating space and the couch inside may not be comfortable to sit for a long while but it’s adequate. The main feature is the large brick oven in the middle of the place where pizzas and garlic breads are baked. Rest of the kitchen is out of sight behind the oven. We were mesmerised to see all the pizza chefs working together in a well rehearsed choreography to churn out absolutely delicious looking pizzas as the delivery orders kept coming in.
We had Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli, 12” Pig Out pizza, 8” The Hellboy pizza and a Traditional Tiramisu for dessert. For ravioli, we swapped out the spicy arrabbiata sauce with pesto sauce. The pasta was delicious and the piece of focaccia bread that came along was perfect for dipping in the sauce. Both the pizzas were showstoppers. The Pig Out pizza is loaded with variety of pork meats - bbq pork belly, pepperoni & crispy bacon along with caramelised onions, micro greens and mozzarella. It wasn’t heavy at all and was well balanced. The crust was thin and baked perfectly to hold the pizza together. The Hellboy had such a perfect balance of flavour! We absolutely enjoyed it. It has spicy pepperoni, crispy bacon, birds eye chilli, jalapeños, fermented chilli honey and mozzarella. That fermented chilli honey works the magic and ties all the flavours together. The pizza is not that overly spicy as the name and ingredients may suggest. The Traditional Tiramisu was a great finisher to the meal. Not overtly sweet with the bitterness of coffee coming through the light sponge.
Overall, a great dine-in and delivery experience with delicious pizzas that you keep going back to. We are going to be regular patrons to this...
Read moreMy recent visit to The Pizza Bakery left me thoroughly unsatisfied. To begin with, despite being the first on the waiting list, the manager decided to give our table to a late-arriving group, which was both frustrating and unfair.
Things didn't improve when we finally placed our order. We ordered the Classic with Pesto and Sun-dried tomatoes garlic bread, but to our dismay, we were served just the Classic bread. When we brought this to the chef's attention, the solution offered was to provide Pesto and Sun-dried tomatoes separately in a bowl, which felt like a lackluster response. To make matters worse, the tomato soup we ordered turned out to be nothing more than watery disappointment, hardly worth the price of 300 bucks.
Moving on to the main course, the pizza we received was a letdown. It was soggy and featured vegetables that were far from fresh, making it a tasteless and unappealing dish.
Even the Spinach inside the Ravioli was undercooked, adding to our growing list of grievances.
In terms of service, I can only rate it 1 out of 5, as it failed to meet even basic expectations. The food quality also deserves a 1 out of 5, considering the multiple shortcomings in our meal. As for the manager's performance, I have no choice but to give it a 0 out of 5 for the unfair treatment we received.
Overall, my experience at the pizza bakery was nothing short of disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone seeking a satisfying...
Read moreMy recent visit to The Pizza Bakery left me thoroughly dissatisfied, and I feel compelled to share my experience. While the food was commendable, the service, staff, and management were nothing short of pathetic. The absence of a washroom or wash area, coupled with the poorly maintained facilities and a lack of soap, is inexcusable for an establishment charging prices comparable to 3-star and 4-star cafes.
Adding to the disappointment, the staff displayed a shocking lack of empathy, making us wait despite having a newborn child, even when tables were available. To exacerbate matters, their refusal to allow me to order a small panini from another restaurant under the same ownership, citing arbitrary food type differences, was frustrating beyond words.
The climax of this unfortunate experience occurred when, in advance, I requested the removal of the service charge due to subpar service and preferred to pay GST separately. Regrettably, my request was initially ignored, necessitating a second visit to rectify the issue. This apparent indifference from the staff made the entire process feel like begging for basic customer rights.
In light of these numerous and severe shortcomings, I strongly advise against choosing The Pizza Bakery for your dining needs. The overall rating of 4.1 for this restaurant is baffling and does not reflect the dismal reality of its service...
