I have been to Jalpaan in Rajajinagar a for the first time, and have been quite happy with the food, great ambiance, improvement required in service.
The first thing as soon as you enter this place is the ambiance and the warm atmosphere of this place. Adequate lighting and interior makes this place awesome.
Ordered their potli biryani as I heard a lot about it but it was not as good as expected, too oily. It was tasty, may be my expectations were too high so didn't find anything special.
This eatery is a treasure trove for vegetarians - it serves a huge variety of all-vegetarian dishes from across Continental, Italian, Chinese, North Indian cuisines, apart from some fusion dishes. There's something for everyone to choose from. The North Indian food here is good and proper North Indian, unlike the stuff sold in most other restaurants in Bangalore.
Here is a round-up of the food we ordered on our recent visit:
Do Phool Do Swaad: This starter consists of florets of broccoli and cauliflower, cooked two different ways. The broccoli is creamy and cheesy, while the cauliflower and spicy and tangy. This was very well done, and we loved it to bits. Brilliant!
Vegetable Dahi Ke Kabab: This has to be, for sure, one of the best dahi ke kabab I've ever had. Slightly tangy, mildly spicy, they were just right. We loved these too.
Corn Tamatar Ka Bharta: This sabzi was very well done, slightly tangy but suited our palates perfectly well. That said, it was a deep red in colour, a red that stuck to our fingers even after we had finished our meals and washed our hands - I simply can't get my head around that. Why add colour to a dish that would already been a beautiful colour, thanks to the tomatoes?
Vegetable Chop Masala: This curry was lovely, with a vegetable gravy poured over vegetable chops. It was slightly on the spicier side, but tasted great.
Garlic naan, butter naan, plain roti: We ordered an assortment of these, and found everything to be well done.
Virgin Colada: We loved, loved, loved this mocktail. It was done just right, the perfect blend of pineapple and coconut.
Ananas Ka Panna: This drink, made with roasted pineapple, was high on salt when it was first brought to our table. We requested for it to be adjusted, and the wait staff obliged. The rectified version tasted lovely, with perfectly balanced spices.
Masala Papad: The masala papad was just average. The toppings could have done with a dash of lemon juice, and the papad was overly spicy.
Overall, though, we liked the food here. Service was prompt, courteous and polite, as we have found it to be previously as well.
The prices are on the higher side here. I would definitely love to go back here to sample the other stuff on their menu.

Read moreThis is surely one of the best Veg. multi-cuisine(the Indo - Italian combination unlike the regular Indo-Chinese) restaurant's in the city. We were here for dinner on a Sunday and had to wait for sometime before we could get to our table. The ambiance is pretty good with enough space to accommodate a good number of tables. They even have space for larger groups. Since it was a Sunday, the place was full and expectedly the staff was quite busy. Amidst all these we placed our order and the food was served impressively soon. We had: Risotto Palle - Deep fried rice balls with cheese and jalapeno. Though there was more cheese in it than rice, it tasted pretty good. It was pretty big in size than usual as well and served with veg. mayo. Papdi Pizza - These are Sev poori papdi sandwiched between a good amount of cheese and topped with a combination of tomatoes and bell-peppers sauteed well in a mixture of sauce along with some seasoning on top of it. Innovative and an impressive dish. Along with breads like Roti and Kulcha, tried the Soy Roti which was a bit salty. Along with the breads we had Veg. Chop Masala - Oval shaped veg. cutlets in a thick palak gravy. The only problem we faced was, the gravy was way too salty. On informing, it was taken back, and in almost 5-10 mins they served us the dish along with fresh bread. This was pretty impressive. The quantity however could have been more. The steward could have been a little more helpful while ordering the dishes. I would love to go back to this place to try out the various other innovative dishes on their menu.

Read moreWhile my recent dining experience at Jalpaan restaurant was primarily a culinary delight, there were a couple of aspects that left room for improvement.
Firstly, upon arrival, I encountered an issue with the lift, which seemed to be not properly maintained. It took some time for the lift to arrive at my floor, and during busy hours, this could potentially lead to inconvenience for guests. I strongly believe that regular maintenance of facilities like lifts is essential to ensure a seamless and enjoyable dining experience for patrons.
Moving on to the culinary front, while the tomato soup stole the show with its impeccable flavor profile, I found the babycorn crispy to be somewhat lacking. The dish was decent, but it didn't quite live up to the high standards set by the other items on the menu. My impression was that the babycorn lacked the desired level of crispiness and seemed more like it was fried using an air fryer rather than achieving the traditional deep-fried texture that I was expecting.
However, it's worth mentioning that despite these minor drawbacks, the overall dining experience at Jalpaan was still highly enjoyable. The attentive staff, delectable cuisine, and inviting ambiance all contributed to a memorable lunchtime. With a few tweaks and improvements, Jalpaan has the potential to elevate its dining experience to even greater heights.
In conclusion, I would still wholeheartedly recommend Jalpaan restaurant to fellow food enthusiasts. With its stellar menu offerings and commitment to customer satisfaction, Jalpaan remains a top choice for anyone looking to indulge in exquisite...
