A Hidden Gem with Stunning Views and Exceptional Dining – Layla
If you’re looking for a dining experience that combines breathtaking views, artistic ambiance, and delicious Mediterranean cuisine, Layla is the place to be. Located on the top floor of The Den hotel, this restaurant offers an impeccable panoramic view of the city, making it a perfect spot for a memorable evening.
I had heard mixed reviews about Layla, particularly about the food, but I decided to trust my instincts and give it a try. I’m so glad I did because my experience completely changed my perspective. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is artistically decorated, with cool ambient lighting that adds to its charm.
The service was exceptional. Our server was incredibly courteous and took the time to explain each dish in detail, helping us make the right choices. We started with the Blood Moon mocktail, which was not only visually stunning (perfect for Instagram!) but also perfectly balanced in flavor. For food, we ordered the Pita bread and hummus, Falafel, and the Pumpkin Lasagne, among other dishes. Every bite was a delight, and the flavors were authentic and well-crafted.
The dessert was the highlight of our meal. The Knafeh and ice cream with hot chocolate were not only a treat for the palate but also a feast for the eyes. We spent a good 10 minutes admiring the presentation and clicking photos before indulging.
The attention to detail extended beyond the food. The washroom was truly 5-star, impeccably maintained, and stocked with all possible amenities. Additionally, the valet parking service made our visit hassle-free, which is always a plus in a busy city.
A pro tip: Keep an eye out for Zomato dine-in offers. They can significantly reduce your bill, making this high-quality dining experience even more accessible. For instance, our bill of ₹8000+ was brought down to ₹5000+ with the offer.
What I loved most about Layla was its peaceful ambiance. The absence of loud music allowed us to fully enjoy our food and engage in meaningful conversations with our family. It’s the kind of place where you can truly unwind and savor every moment.
In conclusion, Layla exceeded all our expectations. From the courteous staff to the exquisite food and stunning decor, every aspect of our evening was flawless. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant for a high-quality dinner with loved ones. Thank you to the chef and the entire team for making our evening so special. We’ll...
Read moreA fabulous Friday dinner with friends called for a fabulous location and our pick was Layla at the Den.
When I checked out the limited menu in Zomato was a little skeptical, but our backup was the other restaurant, The Creek with its buffet and a la carte options.
The location was perfect, 21st floor overlooking the large expanse of ITPL it was superb, very beautifully decked up interiors and exterior deck with daybeds to lounge.
The food was decent with few hits and misses, drinks were fabulous, but most items were not available because they ran out of bitters and were not willing to make it without them.
Both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian pizza was good, loved by not just the kids but all of us.
The vegetarian Kibbeh was more like a sabudana vada, just ok. We expected more out of the okra fritters which was more like a Bhajia, still slimy inside, but with less options we ordered a second portion.
All the dips however were fabulous, I must call that one out.
With a very limited menu on food and drinks, even a few items not being available made a huge dent on our options.
But the mocktails and cocktails that were available were very well made, not fancy looking, but the infusions were spot on, we enjoyed them.
We asked for iced tea for the kids, off the envy, initially we were told no, but later the manager intervened and made it happen, it was refreshing and kept the kids happy, so definitely they scored there.
The service was ok too, slow but ok, what we did not like was we got told to kept the volume down, soon after we settled down, as someone complained about us, the loud bunch. This kind of put us off, we even decided to move to a different restaurant outside Den, but then we were already there, relocating four families in three cars would have wasted a lot more time, we stepped down to the lower level restaurant called The Creek, but more on that experience a little later.
Would i recommend the place, maybe, or maybe not, but for a quiet romantic date, and for a sundowner, this...
Read moreWe booked a table at Layla hoping to have a pleasant experience but we were utterly disappointed.
Ambiance: 2/5 I got a table on the rooftop area but the lighting was very very dim. Too low for us to even call it a romantic setting. They gave a clip-on light to go through the menu, which apparently stopped working in a minute. The table setup is too low and one will have to really bend forward to be able to eat, or they’ll have to pick up their plates as if in a wedding. I had to ask them to change my table.
Food: 1/5 Don’t expect to have much choice with the limited options that they have, both in vegetarian and non-vegetarian sections. I ordered lamb cigars and a pumpkin lasagna and for mocktails, paradise and halenecious. Lamb cigars were alright but the tahini sauce that came with it was completely bland. I’ve had much much better tahini sauce at considerably cheaper café’s. The pumpkin lasagna was under the main course section, but what I got was only a pastry sized portion. And even that was bland. All I could taste was oil/ghee. The pepper sauce had no seasoning whatsoever.
Service: 2.5/5 The staff was ok, but much beyond what one would expect at a fine dining. The whole space was mostly empty with only 4-5 tables booked. I was taking a picture near the bar counter when one of the waiters asked me not to, quite rudely. When I asked the reason, “its not allowed” is all I got in response. He could have easily told me the same in a politer manner.
The only good thing I found there was the view from...
