As self proclaimed "foodies" - what extent are we willing to travel to taste something new? Something recommended? Something different? I think many of us will be ready to take on the adventures, especially if someone has suggested a place they believe to be worthy of a journey. This happened to me recently when visiting a cousin - as we were eating another meal outside, he asked if I had tried Soudhe Ole Fish Tawa Fry? I promptly said, never heard of such a thing. And then the plan was made. Located on the Hosakerehalli cross road, a single shutter hosts a seafood specialty eatery. As you enter, you see the limited and simple interior with basic chairs and tables before seeing this massive iron skillet with the wood fire burning below it. On the right hand side is the various marinated seafood specialties of the day and a list of the prices per gms/kgs. You place the order as you watch him weight the fish/prawns of your liking and then proceed to the left hand side and hand over your token to watch your selection being prepared. We ordered some prawns and fish which were served in a paper plate - along with a thumsup for good measure. You could see the chef managing multiple orders on the large "tawa" (pan) with the slow burning of wood underneath. The idea being the flavour of the meat tastes very different when cooked with a wooden flame vs a regular gas burner. While the fish and prawns were tasty and well cooked, the quantity and price value given its basic ambience did not match. In other words, it was relatively costly for what was on offer. Overall, an experience for sure and not too bad. But the ambience could do with a bit more and the price of the various delicacies could be better adjusted. As a foodie, would I trek there again? Unlikely, but overall an interesting experience and am always up for trying...
Read moreI went there (like most of people) after watching numerous coverage by youtubers of this place. I tried jalebi and prawn fry and I honestly felt the place and taste of dishes are extremely over hyped. One can find similar taste or even better than this at any local street fish fry vendors. One thing I really liked about the place is it has lots of varieties of fishes to offer. Well , I would have rated this place 3 star for its slightly above average fish fries but I choose to give one star strictly coz of the attitude of this vendor. I went here and ordered prawn fry and jalebi. I gave the bill to the owner and he gave me fish fry first and said later he will give prawn fry. I took the jalebi fry and later when I asked for prawn fry he said give me the bill. I told I have already given to you. On that he said he doesn't care about those things , give me the bill then I will give the dish. I even shown him the UPI payment. He said he doesn't care once again. Then I said check with the person who is giving the token. And after so much unnecessary argument he finally gave the dish. This was such a bad experience. I found him to be rude with other customers too as if he is doing favours on others by being at that place. This is the result of all unnecessary hype given by these youtubers and this has gone to his head. Will never visit this place and I encourage others to rather support your nearby street eateries . They need you more than this guy coz he is already well known now and has good...
Read moreI recently visited Madhan Fish Tawa Fry located at 840, Hosakerehalli Cross Rd, Bengaluru, and my experience was disappointing, to say the least. This our third visit to the restaurant. Despite the restaurant's reputation among my Bangalore friends, the food failed to meet the high expectations set by the hype. The cooking, masala, and overall taste were below average, leaving much to be desired.
Service at this restaurant was exceptionally poor. The staff, particularly the owner, displayed an annoying and rude attitude when approached about the status of our order. Orders were served based on bill numbers, but there was a lack of courtesy and professionalism in their service approach.
One major drawback was the exorbitant pricing. The restaurant charges premium rates, which, considering the quality and overall experience, felt unjustified. The value for money was notably lacking.
Additionally, hygiene standards were severely lacking. There was no proper wash basin or hand wash facility, despite the inherent smelliness of seafood. The absence of soap or liquid handwash was concerning. Tables were not cleaned regularly, contributing to an overall unclean and unsanitary environment.
Furthermore, the restaurant was consistently overcrowded, making it challenging to enjoy a peaceful dining experience.
If you are brave enough to inquire about your order's status, be prepared to face the owner's scolding and rude...
