Honest Review: A Missed Opportunity for a Good Naga Meal
For folks from the Northeast who often find themselves on the lookout for a satisfying smoked pork meal, I’d strongly recommend giving this place a pass. Instead, consider visiting The Naga Kitchen, which is conveniently located nearby, or head over to Zingron in Koramangala—both offer a far more authentic and enjoyable experience.
Now, onto my feedback:
❌ The Letdowns:
Ambience: The dining space was underwhelming. A cramped room with limited seating made it uncomfortable for even five people to sit together properly. It felt more like a quick canteen stop than a relaxed dining experience.
Food Taste & Quality: We ordered five plates of smoked pork, each priced at ₹525, along with some extra meat servings. Unfortunately, the food was a letdown: • The smoked pork was overcooked to the point of melting, and oddly enough, the gravy resembled a watery soup. • Worst of all, it didn’t even taste smoked—which is kind of the whole point! • Chutney quantity was laughable—a single teaspoon for five people. • The salad looked like it was meant for one person at best. • Dal could barely serve two people, though the rice was decent.
Value for Money: We were charged quite a bit for what felt like a meager and uninspiring thali. When you’re spending that much and waiting 30 minutes, you’d expect a flavorful, well-prepared dish—not a disappointing imitation.
✅ The Silver Lining:
The only redeeming factor was their collection of indoor games—UNO, chess, Jenga, Ludo, and more. A nice touch for killing time, especially when your food takes a while to arrive.
⚠️ Final Thoughts:
If you’re craving a real Naga thali, especially for smoked pork, this spot is not it. Save your appetite and money for places that actually understand the cuisine and its cultural...
Read moreWe took our small baby to the restaurant. The staff was friendly and offered to carry the baby while we eat. Since the waitress was sweet we gave the baby, only for the baby to be passed around and then given to a strange man who kissed the baby. This is unacceptable, we were fine holding the baby and eating. They unnecessarily forced to carry the baby and then give my child to a complete stranger. My wife is so paranoid right now since so many diseases can be spread by kissing a baby. Thanks for spoiling our evening. Also we ordered for two thalis and they gave us separate dishes instead because of which the bill came up to a lot. Just overall a bad experience. Ps : responding to owner. Please ask the waitress who took our order to show you what she had written. The waitress literally after denying a couple of times still insisted on carrying the baby. She seemed sweet, hence we gave it to her. But giving it to a stranger is absolutely unacceptable. Note that RSV is a real disease and can be spread through kissing a baby. The man not only kissed our baby but did held him tight when I was trying to take the child from him. In today’s world we really can’t be sure of anything. Safety of the child is important. If you were really trying to be friendly with me and my son and we gave him to you, you should have not given it to some stranger and then defend it by saying he’s a friend. (Written...
Read moreThis is a small restaurant located in Kammanahalli that focuses on Naga cuisine. The seating is limited, but I visited the eatery sometime after 3, so the place wasn't full. They have quite an extensive menu that focuses on different types of Naga curries, along with chutneys, porridge, thalis, and some appetizers. I opted for the Beef stew, Steamed Rice, and Fried Fish (Rohu). I did not have to wait long before the food was served. The fish and steamed rice tasted average, but the curry was spicy and flavorful. If I'm not mistaken, they use fermented bamboo shoot in the dish which gives it a deep savoriness. I did not like some of the beef pieces I got, but that's because I usually go for the meatier bits. On the whole, I enjoyed the meal, and sweated and sniffed my way through it. I was also served a few slices of watermelon as a complimentary dessert, and a sour drink made from an indigenous berry. They have pickles and packaged items like black rice on sale. All of them are affordable. Oh, and the young lady who takes orders is really nice. Surprisingly, I actually wanted to tip her for her kindness, but they don't accept tips. Definitely recommended for the authentic flavors and...
