After lot of walking at BVK Iyengar road (near Majestic Area) to purchase some items, it was almost 1-1:15pm and I felt very hungry.. As Chikpet- Balepet area has many eateries, stopped at one of the cloth shops and asked the owner if any North Indian place serving veg food was available.. He suggested this Punjabi restaurant.. with the directions I got, it took me another ~10min to find the restaurant entrance..

Entrance is small for this restaurant ( I actually missed it first time and then noticed Name board). Entrance leads to narrow staircase which then opens to a hall where food is served. When I saw the menu, felt there were lot of good choices as they serve Punjabi and Jain food.

Finally, after lot of confusion in seeing so many items in menu card :) , decided to have Amritsari Shahi Thaali (Rs.350/-) as I was very hungry.. Generally, I dont spend this much on a lunch, it had been almost a year since I had Punjabi food, so decided to have this Thaali otherwise it would be just a normal "meals" lunch at Udupi or Darshini restaurant when going out for buying items.

There were only 2 other tables that were occupied other than mine out of 9 or 10 tables.. Food was made and served in 10min which I felt was less time, as making stuffed Kulcha and Paratha takes bit of time. The Amritsari Kulcha was surprisingly kept wrapped in a foil to retain the heat(good idea) while Lachcha Paratha was just kept on the Thaali ( it could have been served hot as well)..Thaali also has Rajma chawal(mixed) in a cup, Dhal Maakhni, Bindi sabji, Palak Kofta, 1 glass of Lassi and 1 Gulab Jamun.

All 3 Sabji had nice mix of flavors and tasted good - Dhal Maakhni was great, Palak Kofta was good. Rajma Chawal was a little spicy for me but the glass of thick super Lassi cooled my tummy :) Felt Bindi sabji was okay, instead of it, if Punjabi chole were given for Amritsari Thaali, it would have been super combination.

All items were more than sufficient for 1 person when it comes to quantityp.. Saying this as after eating Amritsari Parata and stuffed Kulcha with sabji felt nearly full.. Somehow managed to complete Chaawal, lassi and sweet ;)

Heard from the owner that Restaurant was started in 1994. After finishing lunch, turned and saw all tables were occupied! It was almost 2-2:15.

Go for any of the big Thaali only if you have the apetite to match :) else seriously suggest only to try separate items as food is rich in taste.

Handwash area is separate, neatly maintained.

Payment is accepted via cash, UPI, card.

Parking - you wont get parking for both 2 or 4 wheeler on this busy street, better to park at "Kempegowda Maharaja Parking Complex".. much safer and reasonable charges. By walk, it will probably take 10-15min from the parking complex to this restaurant and your apetite will be ready for thaali meal :)

If you like North Indian food especially Punjabi food, come with enough space to enjoy and eat good Punjabi food. Next time if I have to visit this area, will try Jain food at this restaurant.

Landmark: If you see ICICI bank Chikpet branch on this street, you are on the correct street.. You can find this Punjabi restaurant diagonally opposite to another restaurant - "U D" ( which has big...

Worstest hotel friends pls don’t visit. When I had been for lunch today with my friends after seeing this insta… I smelled sewage water is mixed with the food. Even when I went to wash my hands I noticed the smell and I informed the cashier even he accepted and said from 3 pm onward he is getting that sewage water mixed but he didn’t stop the customers to get inside the hotel. I didn’t have the food officer phone number other wise I would have called and given a complaint then and there itself. I also informed the cashier that I am going to comment this issue. Even the food was very worst with too much of mud mixed with it. If you care for your health I would not suggest this worst hotel.

Replying to the Owner's review msg. Hello Mr.owner, i was not able to comment on your reply so i am editing my review comments and adding my reply below. You mentioned that pipeline is broken -

  1. When did you say me that ? You said me only when i complained you first saying that the sewage water is mixed right ? Suppose if i would have not informed you ? you would have kept quite. Also you said that you came to know about the water problem at 3 pm only in your review comments right ? Why you didn't stop the customer to enter the hotel after 3 pm ? why did you allow us to get in after 3 pm ? infact, i entered the hotel after 3.10 pm and you started serving me after 30 mins by then it was 3.40 pm... till 3.40 pm why were you sitting silent and allowing us to use that sewage water to wash hands ? Also i even complained that mud is mixed in the food and i spitted the food in the other plate opposite to me and by the time i went to wash my mouth and come back you took away the plate without my notice (you can watch it in your CC camera). My bad i washed my mouth in that sewage water only, then only i came to know how good your water/food is. My health was completely upset for 3 days after having your so called hygienic food and water. I don't want to waste my time by commenting...

Its a complete vegetarian restaurant with huge variety of north indian delicacies...specially punjabi cuisine...

I went to chickpet all the way from banaswadi just to eat at the Punjabi restaurant...i reached thier at 3.30 pm and the restaurant was full.. had to wait for 20mins to get a single seat....

I had planned to eat "special thali", but when tried ordering the waiter said that the thalis are over and only maharaja punjabi thali (rs. 800) was available from todays special menu....thier reason for not giving "Special thali" was because it was closing time. However all the items in special thali was available if ordered them individually (full plate) at full rate... i did not understand the logic at all... Anyhow.... i ordered paneer butter masala and chur chur naan and punjabi lassi.... And my rating of 2/5 star is solely based on the taste of the food i ordered today.... -Paneer Butter masala: the taste was nowhere close to a punjabi style "paneer butter masala"... it tasted more like thick tomato curry with paneer cubes in it with a dollop of butter on top of the gravy... -Chur chur naar: Thier famous chur chur naan, not sure why it is famous... wasn't worth the hype at all...it was burnt on the sides... i didnt like it... -Punjabi Lassi: Well, this was the savior today at the restaurant...my disappointment with food was balanced by the lassi....thier lassi had crushed Kaju in it which i really liked...at the moment i can only recommend lassi from here...

Well, I'd still give them a benefit of a doubt because of the day and time i went...being a sunday the place was crowded and also it was almost closing time...my ratings may change in the future if i get a chance to...
