Tried breakfast items here on a weekend morning with family..We reached there around 10:15 - 10:30 and found place was still mildly crowded.. At first glance, the entrance was small but as you go in, down the hallway with sidebenches, it opens into a bigger room with many tables and benches. We ordered from the list of items "written" on a white board next to the cashier.
Each one of us tried different items such as Podi Masala Dosa Thatte Idly, Chow Chow bath(i.e. Khara and Sweet Kesari Bath) and Idly Vade. To get the ordered food item we need to give the token received at the time of payment. Podi Masala Dosa was ok but a bit spicy due to chilli powder on the inside..Chow chow bath was ok. Thatte idly was soft and nice (if you need sambhar separately, you will need to tell them before hand while giving slip which has food item name)..
There was a "big steel bucket full of coconut chutney" on a bench next to the service area whenever anyone needs more chutney, they could take it from the bucket - seeing something like thus for the first time. We ordered a plate of Millet pongal..taste was okay, it would have been better if it was hot..whereas Puliyogare(tamarind rice) was prepared well( good taste) but sadly it was also "not hot"! Lastly we had a glass of coffee which was good.
Rates are reasonable in line with quantity. Note: Credit cards are NOT Accepted; only UPI/Digital wallet/ Cash based payments are accepted here.
Since it is table-bench type seating arrangement, it can be quite difficult to get a seat especially when families occupy whole benches when we got to get ordered items from counter..the restsurant is like Darshini style fast food joint (no table service). Dishes are served quite quickly. Handwash area is separate.
Hygiene Alert! When I went to wash my hand, I noticed person cleaning tables put the cleaning cloth into the washbasin where people spit or wash their hand..then pour water on it to wash it..then dry it..this is not hygenic way to clean tables or for that person as well.. @ restaurant owners, please tell table cleaners not to put cloth in the washbasin!

Read moreI recently dined at Raghavendra Tiffin in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, and had a chance to savor a variety of South Indian dishes. Overall, I found the experience to be quite satisfying. The menu offered a delightful selection, including masala dosa, idly vada, lemon rice, coffee, tea, puligori, and Chow Chow bath.
The taste of the dishes was undoubtedly good, and the prices were quite affordable, making it an excellent choice for a South Indian breakfast or meal. The masala dosa was crisp, the idly vada had a soft texture, and the lemon rice had a refreshing tanginess. The coffee and tea were also well-prepared and provided a comforting beverage option.
However, I do believe there is room for improvement. While the taste was good, a little more attention to consistency in flavors and presentation could elevate the dining experience further. Additionally, the ambiance could benefit from some refurbishment to enhance the overall atmosphere.
In conclusion, Raghavendra Tiffin in HSR Layout offers a decent South Indian dining experience at an affordable price point. With a few refinements, it has the potential to become a go-to spot for those seeking delicious South Indian breakfast and meals...
