Sharief Bhai is a true delight for every non-vegetarian lover, a heaven of sorts. I’ve been hearing rave reviews about Sharief Bhai, and once even ordered from their JP Nagar cloud kitchen. However, I wanted to experience the food first hand in their restaurant so decided to visit the Kammanahalli branch.
SHORT REVIEW: A must-visit for every meat lover, there are unimaginable options to choose from. Prices are low and the quantity is great. Don’t miss it if you’re in the area. The place is a bit small, so seating may be an issue at peak times, so plan accordingly.
MUST TRY: Sheeks, Shami Kebab, Biryani
DETAILED REVIEW: As they had a menu, I gathered around all my foodie friends from the area and we decided to attack the menu. We ordered A LOT, and I must say I wasn’t disappointed by any dish ordered. Even the prices are low, meaning you won’t end up spending a lot, especially if you go as a group as the quantity of the dishes is massive. Here are some of the items we ordered. I am going to skip mentioning the main course items as I was too full to even taste them.
Arabic Murgh Sheek – The meat was succulent and juicy, and though I’m not a major sheek fan, liked this dish.
Arabic Gosht Sheek – Surprising as it may seem to most of you, considering I don’t quite like mutton, this Sheek (and even their mutton shami) had me full fida over it. The dish is perfect in all regards, soft, succulent and melt in the mouth. Loved it!
Paya Soup – One of the most flavourful Paya Soups I’ve had till date. All the seasonings were perfect and it felt like absolute comfort food.
Murg Til Kebab – This dish was prepared in the pakka local kabab style, which is deep fried in oil, however with a twist of sesame seeds. This was one of the few dishes which I didn’t quite fancy.
Gurda Kaleji Fry – Not really a fan of these kinds of meat, so I did not try it, however my friends loved it.
Kheema Fry - Not really a fan of these kinds of meat, so I did not try it, however my friends loved it.
Bheja Fry – Decided to taste it on the insistence of a friend, and must say it was a unique experience.
Gosht Shami Kebab – Another dish from their menu that I absolutely loved. I wonder how they get their meat so well marinated and juicy. What a delight!
Murg Shami Kebab – Similar to the Gosht Shami Kabab, but I surprisingly liked the Gosht variant better.
Anjal Tawa Fry – Being a Mangalorean, I am very particular about my fish dishes, and this one again failed to massively impress me, but its not bad either.
Lal Mirch Ke Ande – This dish was reminiscent of the Mangalorean Ghee Roast, but smelt and tasted strongly of Maggi Masala. However, it was damn tasty and I ended up gobbling two eggs on my own.
Mushroom Garlic – This was something I’ve not seen too often, with equal amounts of garlic cloves and mushroom slices in a red semi-gravy. Thought the garlic taste would be overpowering, but it was quite subtle and tasty.
Har-Dil-Azeez Gosht Biryani – This is their main basic mutton biryani which was quite flavourful and tasty.
Gosht Keema Biryani – This is the same as the basic mutton biryani with the difference being the kheema masala instead of the pieces, which makes it more masaledaar than the other variant.
Murg Boneless Special Biryani – This one is slightly on the blander side as the boneless strips are pre-friend and cooked, and later mixed into the biryani rice which is not spicy in the first place.
Seviyaan – Thin and light, this is a great accompaniment to their gravies or even to just have them as is.
Chappati – The chappatis here reminded me of the ones my mom makes at home. Light and non-oily, this is the perfect accompaniment to the rich gravies.
OVERALL VERDICT: Definitely a place I’ll be visiting again or ordering from, as they indeed managed to live up to their hype. A lot of people have said that their quality has come down from what it was initially. If it is still so good now, I can only wonder how much better it would have been back then. I hope they keep up their good work. It’s a clear 5 from me...
Read moreSharief Bhai is a casual dining restaurant which is a absolute paradise for any non vegetarian. ♥️ Here are some of the pictures of an absolutely delicious and fulfilling lunch of the array of the mouthwatering chicken and mutton delicacies I tried last weekend at the Kalyan Nagar branch. The place is neatly set up with simple seating, nothing fancy or extravagant. The prices of the dishes are quite pocket friendly and the quantity of every dish is ample making it a favourite for people who love to eat without burning a whole in their pocket. If you want my recommendation, I would urge you to try their: Gosht shaami kebab: marinated with the right amount of spices and tasted brilliant. Definitely a crowd favourite! Bheja pakoda: like the name suggests it's basically gosht brain. Now this could be tricky at first but if you end up trying it, you won't be disappointed. It has got a distinct taste. Paya soup: absolute comfort food. So delicious and flavorful. Nalli Nihari: another crowd favourite. Flavourful and lip smacking. Lal Mirch ke Ande: it's an egg delicacy which ranks high on the spice meter. Loved this. Seekh Kebab (mutton): such succulent, flavourful meat. Delicious! This place has an array of delicious biryanis too but my pick would be •har Dil e azeez gosht Biryani, which is their standard mutton biryani. I really liked the blend of the spicy rice and the flavourful meat. •prawn biryani- large chunky prawns cooked in tanngy rice. The fish lover in me was very happy to try it. Lastly I'd suggest you to end the meal some good old firni which is quite good here or if you're not a dessert person then have a meetha paan. They have chocolate paans too but they aren't my cup of tea personally even though a couple of my friends liked it. The service was prompt and the staff was super helpful. All in all a good experience 🤗
Do check out the place if in...
Read moreA biryani craving evening. One of my friend insisted me on trying Biryani and mutton dishes at this restaurant. Curious to know about their taste, first up ordered their Mutton soup. First sip of this soup opened up all my taste buds. It had all the necessary flavours to make it the chefs best. Though the quantity was less, the soup was appetising with mutton chunks. Definitely, the one to be had before heading to the starters or main course.
Next up was, Mutton Pathhar ghosht. Tender mutton pieces slow cooked on the stone. Every bite of this dish was scrumptious. The tender meat was cooked to perfection and this had all the flavour it needed. Dominant pepper on every bite with hints of coriander made it the perfect combination. You would have every bit of the masala leftover on your plate. Undoubtedly a finger licking good dish.
Entry into the main course definitely has to be with biryani here. Though the biryani wasn’t steaming hot, the warm biryani had all the spices with the main masala layered and mixed up beneath. This biryani would’ve been the highlight if it only had been piping hot. Biryani here is subtle on your stomach and doesn’t give you the fullness so you could definitely bat a full plate for yourself.
Lastly, gave a finishing touch to all dishes with their infamous phirni. One of the best Phirnis ever had till date. Served chilled in a matka with the crunch of sliced almonds is any day mouthwatering. Rich in taste and texture, this is one dish that all sweet tooth lovers would be in love with.
All dishes are worth trying and prices aren’t on the higher side. You can expect a service delay here. In all it...
