XOOX Belgian Waffle — Restaurant in Bengaluru

I love waffles. Especially the classic waffle which is usually fluffy, drenched with maple syrup. It used to be my daily breakfast for some time when I was away from home.

I have been seeing most of the good waffle shops disappearing these days, thanks to Corona. Waffle Stories at Jayanagar and BTM layout shut shop recently. One small store in BSK 2nd stage, close to Bata showroom shut shop too. It's now Goli Vadapav.

Had never been to XO Belgian Waffle until yesterday night. I called Sai Skanda, the owner before I went there. The owner spoke pleasantly, gave us the directions and provided the timings of the store as well.

The store itself is very neatly maintained and the staff is courteous and provided a good understanding of what was what in the Menu. Also, the pricing was too good to be true.

We ordered 4 Classic Waffles and a few additions to it. I was expecting a mouth watering delight. Unfortunately, when the waffle arrived... It just did not meet the expectations. The waffle itself was really thin and double layered. The maple syrup was alarmingly insufficient. I have seen waffles where they are literally soaked in maple syrup. But here, they only add a couple of spoons. Because of this the Waffle felt very dry.

I was so very excited when I heard that there was a waffle shop just a stone throw away from my home. But was utterly disappointed with the final product. I see that the owner has responded to the reviews in the past. If he is reading this, I request him to eat a 'Classic Waffle' at Vega City (opposite to the toy store in the top floor) and compare it with his own.

Ambience is not that good with limited seating arrangement. Best place to eat waffles. They are hot and freshly prepared. Service was good and the staff were friendly. I ordered Nutella waffle and it was loaded with Nutella. But the size of Nutella could have been bigger. I felt the portion size was very less for price. Waffle had right consistently but was little sweet. It tasted really good with ice cream. Nutella hot beverage did not have Nutella taste in it. It tasted more like hot chocolate but it was not bad. I'm reviewing the food and service at 10:40 pm, 24th of aug 2023. I wanted to order Waffle Honey with vanilla ice-cream, but the one who took order in the counter was rude, not at all polite and not friendly at all. He don't know Kannada also. Hope the concerned person can see this review and help him with communication training and teach him to treat customers well.
