Zamindar is an Andhra cuisine special located right in the heart of Kalyan Nagar commercial area and is very easy to locate on the main road.
Food (5/5): In the era of restaurants trying to do almost everything in a single capacity and ending up being a jack of all, Zamindar stands out as an example exhibiting complete focus and dedication towards their delicacies. Bangalore is full of Andhra cuisine restaurants but the authenticity captured in their dishes is unparalleled in my opinion. Following are the dishes that I would strongly recommend:
Chicken Sholay kebab: Crispy on the outside, soft in the inside. Perfect dish to get you started as it gives you a hint of the spiciness of Andhra food.
Chicken malai tikka: Being from Delhi, I feel not many restaurants in Bengaluru have quite figured out how to get the sweetness of malai mix with the texture of the tikka, but Zamindar does not disappoint at all here.
Egg chilli: Quite innovative and spicy one of the lot. You will not be able to make out from the outside that there will be a perfectly boiled egg inside which will definitely surprise you very pleasantly.
Chicken tikka masala: Bang on with the presentation and nothing to complain as far as how well the chicken was cooked.
Kodi kura chitti garelu: This is my opinion was the dish that received the maximum repeat orders. This is an Andhra specialty, so much so that there is a restaurant by the same name in Hyderabad. Small onion ring-shaped vadas served with chutney caught most attention and rightly so.
Mutton rogan josh: No mutton dish can ever be served with excess oil floating on top of the gravy but I was pleasantly surprised here to see the opposite. The dish was perfectly cooked and scored well on the presentation as well.
Kheema paratha: Again a must-try at the restaurant as not many places can get this right and this one does.
Gongura mutton biryani: Wanted to keep the best one for the last. This was without a doubt my favorite dish on the menu and I will certainly revisit the restaurant with my gang just to try this beautiful creation. The taste of garam masala amalgamated perfectly with the red meat. Personal recommendation on this one.
Ulavacharu chicken biryani: Another authentic specialty from the rich food tradition of Andhra and a must try for first timers as this will give them a new taste experience being made from horse gram.
Zamindars special lassi: Well made but could have been thicker in my opinion.
Double ka meetha: Crisp bread pieces soaked in sugar syrup and then topped with saffron and cardamom flavored milk rabri.
Ambience (5/5): The restaurant is spacious and can afford to seat close to 50 people. Washrooms were fairly clean and the place is kid-friendly.
Service (5/5): Service was on point. Anything ordered was served within minutes and the staff was extremely patient and greeted all the guests with a constant smile, something that definitely makes the restaurant experience much better.
Value for money (5/5): Cost for 2 will be close to 700 INR if you stick with the basic 1 starter 1 main course kind of strategy, however, this place has so much to offer that you might end up spending a bit more which will be...

Their grandiose ambiance, cozy seating arrangements and super friendly staff will attract you in the first glance. About the food they serve, traditional dishes, as well as non-traditional ones, are made slightly different way which makes them unique. They do serve authentic Andhra as well as some north Indian and Chinese dishes. We went for a casual lunch treat: As we were 10 pax, which gives us the luxury to try out different kinds of stuff. We ordered For starters: Veg: We started off with sweet and salt lime soda to satiate out thrust and a small portion of a huge zamindar special masala papad. It was refreshing indeed. Next, we tried Paneer Karara: I never had this dish anywhere. a spherical dish, crunchy from outside and filled with paneer bhurji inside makes it one of the desirable dish in this eatery. We tried some Chinese starters as well such as Chilli crispy veg, Mushroom pepper dry. They were good. For non-veg: For non-veg starters, you can try chicken Sholay kabab, chicken Chandni kabab, chicken tikka kabab, and tandoori chicken. My favorite pick is Chicken chandni kabab . It was well presented and tasted awesome. Juicy kabab was kind of melt In the mouth experience. Chicken tikka masala was good and for those who like extra spicy food, dragon chicken was for them. I liked the Sholay kabab too, it’s worth a try. Tandoori chicken was also good and worth a try, it was a bit different than what most of the north Indian restaurants serves. We had something very authentic here and especially to me it's not very common dishes which mostly Andhra food joints serve. It called Kodi Kura Chitti Garelu, different kind of crunchy vada with chicken gravy and Mirchi ka salan. Totally loved it and would recommend everyone to try out this. For the main course, we had veg Noorani and veg Kundan Kasa was great, went well with butter kulcha. For non-veg main course, we had butter chicken masala. It was well cooked with a tinge of Andhra touch. Gosh badam pasanda is mutton curry with dry fruit topped on it., all those who love mutton, this is must try dish for them. Keema nan was another attraction here, totally loved it. Finally in the main course, how one can forget about Biriyanis? We had four of them. Ulavacharu chicken biryani: it was okiesh. Gongura mutton biryani: totally loved it. Hyd chicken dum biryani: same as other Hyderabadi restaurants serve. But it was less in spice, so I liked it Spl Boneless biryani: good. Finally, in deserts we ordered pot lassi, totally loved it. Slightly, different in taste with a bit of coconut in it. Double ka meetha was not that great. Overall a great experience, and will definitely come soon and will make sure everybody knows about this place...
Read moreZamindar restaurant is a fairly new restaurant that takes credit in serving absolutely authentic Andhra cuisine. All ingredients used in making the food is brought down from Andhra Pradesh. Ambiance: it's a standard dining area with plush sofas and comfortable seats as a seating arrangement for a wholesome family dining experience. Food: For starters we were served:
•Jeedi Pappu Kodi Vepudu:
It's a chicken starter with symptoms amount of cashews in it. The cashew blends beautifully with the spicy chicken.
• Chicken 65: Perfectly cooked boneless chicken. This dish was slightly spicy than my usual liking but it was super tasty.
•Kodi Kura Chitti Gare: This was such a surprise! Basically it's good old mini vadas with Chicken curry. They went so well together. I highly recommend this dish.
•Mutton Fry: Well cooked meat which has been fried and it melts in your mouth almost instantly. Loved it.
• Egg Chilli: One of my favourites! This is like our good old pakoda and one cannot go wrong with it.
•Keema Paratha: Another favourite! Naan stuffed with chicken keema is delicious. It can be paired with any side dish of your liking or even consumed as it is.
In vegetarian starters we were served: mushroom pepper dry, karara paneeer, baby corn. My pick would be mushroom pepper dry.
Now, the USP of this place is the unlimited Vegetarian thali.
Coming to the thali: Everything in the thali is unlimited expect the chapati. It comes with a big serving of rice, chapati, pappy (Dal) some authentic Andhra style vegetable curries, sambar, raaam, gunpowder, pickle, papad, curd, ghee, buttermilk. And all of this just for Rs 170!
We also got to try 6 different kinds of Biryani:
•Ulavacharu Chicken and •Vegetable Biryani. •Special Boneless Chicken Biryani •Avakai Biryani •Gongura Mutton Biryani • Mutton Kheema Biryani . . . Loved their presentation of each and every one of them. I tried the non vegetarian biryanis mainly and my personal favourite has to be the mutton keema biryani. Delicious! Special mention: Avakai is a kind of mango and the Avakai biryani is made out of that. That was quite an interesting experience too.
For dessert we tried the Payasam and Lassi. The presentation was beautiful. Lassi was thick and moderately sweet which I love, served in tiny clay pots and garnished with tasty seasoning. A perfect end to an absolutely fulfilling experience. :)
Another great initiative taken by the restaurant which is worth mentioning here is that it has tied up with the Robin hood Army organisation.. So in case there's any leftover food it is not wasted instead it's sent to people who...
