The ambience is nice, decorations and furniture are classy, the place is well-kept and hygienic. I went on an evening around 6 pm, on Lakshmi Puja. The only menu available was one of three "special thalis," one veg and two non-veg. I would have preferred to have a full menu, but perhaps it's due to the occasion or timing. Anyways, the veg thali was 425 (446 after tax) and I ordered that. The other thalis were the 2 non-veg thali (525 or 550, can't remember) which included a fish and prawn dish as well as a mutton dish, and the 3 non-veg thali (625 or 650) included the fish and prawn fish, another prawn dish, and a mutton dish. If you are not a very big eater I suggest getting the veg thali! I was hungry after work but couldn't even finish that because there was so much! It comes with lassi (which was refreshing), 4 luchi (they came out still warm but quite soft, I prefer crunchier luchi personally), dal (typical), 4 small veg dishes (potato, beans, fried shredded potatoes, and a potatoes+peas dry curry -- these were all fine, nothing special imo), 1 small sweet dish (seemed to be gourds with kishmish in a tangy syrup, quite good), one veg cutlet (could skip this, it was just ok, I didn't finish it since I was too full), 2 special veg dishes (one coconut milk based, another slightly spiced -- both delicious! I would want to order these on their own), mishti doi (so good!), and one piece of gulab jamun (hints of cinnamon, I'm not a big sweets person so I didn't finish this after finishing the mishti doi). Service was very quick and attentive, the waiter was courteous and checked in often, note that you will also get rice with this (the waiter will serve you more rice or give you more veg dishes at your request). Anyways it was a very filling and enjoyable meal, though a bit pricey in my opinion. The layout was quite nice though and the special...
Read moreWent to their saltlake 6th Ballygaunge Place Thali branch for a lunch with the family. Some of us ordered their "oh so famous" Thali.. While some of us opted for singles on the menu. Here, I would like to gather your attention to the service they provided us with.. The waiter who attended was so full of himself, he had some kind of attitude going on with him..neither he bothered to have a courtesy while attending us nor he bothered responding back to our queries. For the starters there wasn't any welcome drink for us, we were served that upon asking several times, since we also ordered thali's so the welcome drink was already included. They served two three items from the thali menu which were not something enough to start with.. And then kept us waiting, while the others who ordered for individual items they sat back hungry. It's very human of us to give them something to munch on while they wait from our plate, but we overlooked the waiter who was just behind us eyeing everything we did continuously. Gradually the other items came.. And upon asking that if they would repeat the rice, which was to say unlimited, they refused to repeat because apparently they found us sharing the food. Whole of the time the waiter was sitting on our head, making us feel in lack of privacy. Neither we asked for any repeat or neither our behavior was distracting. But what disturbing was, how they serve there customers and how they behaved. Two stars for the food and the price. The food and the pricing was decent but they should perhaps look forward to there service aswell so that one can atleast be comfortable and enjoy their time...

What I ordered: Veg thali, daab chingri, and mutton kosha.
The overall taste felt quite basic and not something I’d hype about.
The restaurant changes their vegetable choices daily, but on our visit there weren’t any exotic/classic Bengali delicacies like sukto, mocha, or potol dorma ,etc. Instead, we were served kumror chokka, basic paneer sabji, and alu-jhinge posto. Unfortunately, all of them tasted quite ordinary and didn’t meet restaurant standards.
The luchi was good, but the aloo dum was overly tangy and sour, which didn’t quite match typical Bengali taste buds.
The mutton kosha pieces were bony and not satisfyingly soft — could definitely be improved.
The daab chingri felt overpriced considering the small size of the prawns served.
Final take: The food felt more basic than typical home-cooked meals. If you’re looking for an “onusthan bari” style taste, this might not be the right place — especially given that the prices are on the...
