The name of the place might be Jaisalmer- Sonar Kella, but don't expect that you will be getting only Rajasthani food there. I think people at the City of Joy won't love Rajasthani food much. I have tried Rajasthani thali once, it was full of assorted Indian breads and lots of veggies preparation. I personally don't like Rajasthani food much, and I expect that most of the people in Kolkata won't love it. So they just kept the name and set the ambience accordingly.

Coming to the food, we had some of their best delicacies:

• Chicken Lasooni Kebab- Generally Lasooni chicken kebabs are made of succulent chunks of chicken which are marinated with garlic and other spices and seasonings. But here, at Jaisalmer they used chicken leg pieces to make the Lasooni kebabs and they were equally soft and succulent. The chicken pieces were first marinated with garlic, ginger paste grene chilli paste and with other spices and masala as well. Then grilled slowly in the pan.

• Gondhoraj Fish Tikka- People at the City of Joy love to have fish, and always prefer a preparation of fish whenever they visit any restaurant or cafe. Then smell and effect of Gondhoraj lebu (lime) is preferred by most of the people in Kolkata. Gondhoraj lebu is used to cook many dishes like chicken, fish, egg and also can be consumed in raw form. The fish fillet is marinated with Gondhoraj lebu juice, ginger paste and salt and then mixed well. Now prepare the steam and cook them slowly.

• Ajillo Prawns- This is a dish originated from Spain named as Prawn with Garlic, aka Gambas Al Ajillo, in which they added some Indian touch and renamed it to Ajillo Prawns. For making this dish, high quality jumbo prawns is required as after the cooking, the size of prawns shrinks a bit. Here, four jumbo sized prawns were placed in a beautiful plate, presented beautiful and filled with veggies which were tossed in the garlic paste and olive oil. This dish is a highly recommended one.

• Mixed Hakka Noddles and Kun Pao Chicken- This is an absolute combo that many of us craves for. Noodles along with a Chinese side dish is a combo that has been favourite for many from centuries. The kung pao chicken had veggies like capsicum, onions stir fried in oil and along with chopped ginger and garlic. Then few sauces are poured and after that the golden fried chicken chunks were taken and tossed with the sauce and veggies, turning into a great side dish for the mixed noodles. The noodles were thick, and had loads of veggies, eggs and chickens in it. But there was no prawn in it, so people having health issues (like allergy) from prawns won't have any problem, but prawn lovers will miss the prawns in it.

• Grilled Bhetki with Lemon Butter Sauce- A whole, small Bhetki is used for preparing this dish. The Bhetki is coated with flour and then tossed in a pan with butter in it, and then sprinkled some salt and other seasonings in it. After this in the same pan, again butter is melted and a lime is squeezed in it and is mixed with butter. Then this sauce is poured over the fried fish fillet. Along with the grilled fish, they served assorted veggies and lemon butter rice. The rice was also prepared in the same pan, with slight amount of butter and lime in it.

The outlet is really huge, can accommodate around hundred people easily. They have two kinds of sitting area that you can refer from the picture, one is normal chairs and tables and the other is kind of a bit private section with sofas. The walls are painted very beautifully, with beautiful scenaries and graffiti in it. They also provide banquet services for receptions, engagement parties and any private functions. So you can contact them for any kind of parties. Coming to their hospitality, it was really appreciable. They were very humble and helpful, and served the dishes just on time. Hope to visit...

Decoration- The name of the place might be Jaisalmer- Sonar Kella, but don't expect that you will be getting only Rajasthani specialized thalis or food there. They just kept the name and set the ambience according to the theme . When you enter in this place you get that full on Rajasthani vibes. At the entrance there are two camels along with a man & a receptionist just waiting to greet you outside. Now, open the door! Here is the big sitting red chairs with lounge for dine in. Everything is so soothing as per my experience. You can choose between indoor and outdoor seating. Imagine a combination of great meals and the terrific staff, this is exactly what this spot provides you with (depends on the situation even ). The nice service is something these restaurateurs care about. Tasty food at low prices are provided here. You will certainly appreciate the lovely ambiance and cute décor.

🔺Food- In this place two types of buffet are served. Price are- For Veg: Rs.597/-. For Non-veg: Rs.777/-. I opted for Non-veg buffet

Coming to the food, we had some of their best delicacies:

Then aroma and taste of Gondhoraj lebu (lime) is highly preferred by most of the people in Kolkata. But honestly it was not much satisfying and meeting my expectations.

• Ajillo Prawns- This is a dish originated from Spain named as Prawn with Garlic, aka Gambas . The platter had 6 high quality jumbo prawns. The size of prawns are quite decent , presented beautiful and filled with veggies which were tossed in the garlic paste and olive oil. This dish is a highly recommended one. The Crab Masala was spicy and Lobster Thermidor are the show stealer ( but didn't get to try them). If you try them comment down below your opinion.

• Kashmiri polao and butter chicken- It is filled with a lot of spices mixed well and perfect for someone who loves extra spice on the platter. Overall it was nice.

• Chicken Biriyani- It was decent enough with huge chunks of chickens, there are 2 piece of chicken which is enough for two people.

Desserts: Tasty Gulab jamun, chocolate ice cream and brownies have a good taste. Good martinis, cordial or scotch are what may make you return to this place. Try the great chocolate frappe, lemonade or juice offered here.

• Cockatils- I had Watermelon Mojito, Green Apple Mojito, and Sunrise Mojoto. Taste is quite good and decent. You can try it too. Totally loved it. Tried a few cocktails and mocktails too. Overall had a great time with delicious food and beautiful ambiance. Highly recommended

Murgh lasooni kebab: Succlent pieces of chicken leg marinated with ginger garlic paste & other seasoning and good amount of spices & cooked so nicely to make the lasooni kebabs so soft and Succlent. . Basket Chilli Kai: Decent size of chicken cubes tossed with chilli & pepper and topped with veggies that tasted so good. . Panco Crumbed Prawns: They're delectable—moist and flavorful on the inside,Prawns marinated in peri-peri chillie sauce, surrounded by a thin crunchy coating. . Main course: Mutton Biryani: The perfect delight for every biriyani fanatic,this aromatic dum pukht method of cooking rice with mutton & all time favourite mughlai speciality in insatiable with delectable flavours and the juicy & tenderness of mutton, served with full of barista. . Chicken Rara punjabi: Decent pieces of chicken cooked with spices and the curry, it was full with chunks of chicken served with grated cheese on the top. . Lal mass: The combination of whole spices & soft tender juicy mutton chunks make it tasty spicy dish, it can be enjoyed with naan & roti also. . ▪️Pocket Pinch: 1400/- for two. Jaisalmer – Sonar Kella has created a little patch of Rajasthan in the central business district of Salt Lake. But don’t let the name and the Rajasthani themed decor fool you, because the cuisines offered in the restaurant extend well beyond the borders of Rajasthan. From cocktails spiked with vodka to different types of Biryani, it has a wide range of items to offer. Location: Its on the first floor of Globsyn Building opposite to KFC. Decor- Its simply majestic. From elegant furnishings to the camel 🐫 outside, it gives you a total feel of Rajasthan. It has 3 private dining areas and can accommodate more than 50 persons easily. I’m describing a few of the dishes I savoured. Chicken butter masala: garnished with cream and coriander it is a very spicy and richly cooked dish. Spring Kai: this perfect starter is comprised of deep fried finger shaped boneless chicken pieces and Schezwan sauce and is garnished with carrot. Chicken Sultani Masala: true to its name this dish tastes undoubtedly regal. A hollow is carved in a massive chunk of chicken and is stuffed with chicken kima, this piece of chicken stuffed chicken is then cut into two after cooking and the dish is served garnished with cream and coriander leaves. Mutton Seekh Kebab: it doesn’t just taste good, it looks good too, the garnishing stands out what with a scrap of papor, onion rings and a slice of carrot served with the pieces of kabab. Pan fried chilly fish: It is one of the most delicious fish items I have ever had, with the spices and salt uniformly distributed in all parts of the boneless pieces of fish. Mutton Biryani: What can you, one of the best Biryani i had in Sec- 5 region. Not too spicy and not too dry,gives you a perfect feel of a awadhi biryani. Mutton Rara Punjabi: Biryani can’t be enjoyed to the fullest in absence of succulent pieces of meat slathered in thick gravy. This dish having minced mutton along with mutton pieces which compliments the Biryani. It can be coupled with naan or other bread items. Watermelon Mojito: This refreshing bright red mocktail is a perfect summer drink. Green on floor: This unique alcoholic drink is made from cucumber pulp, has a little amount of vodka and is served with a floating chilly. Overall an amazing place for fine dining in the heart of office para of Kolkata.

On the eve of Diwali, I visited this place for the 1st time for dinner. Located at the heart of Saltlake Sector V, just few mins from IEM college more, inside the Globysn Crystals building. The ambience of this place is very well maintained and very innovative and will surely remind you about Sonar Kella. Inside the resto, the ambient warm light gives you a different feeling. They do have a beautiful bar counter, hookah place that is serve upstairs. Apart from this beautiful decorations, they do have live sports screening too. We ordered 2 Non-veg buffet for dinner that cost us around ₹950/ person excluding drinks. They serve us all the item on our table, although they have a separate corner for buffet also where you can go and have your food. The food item starting from starters to main course was sufficient for us, would suggest if you can't eat too much don't go for the buffet. We feel that for two of us the quantity was more, so ended up very quickly. All items are unlimited, except the welcome drink. Suprisingly each and every item was freshly cooked and served hot. For biryani lovers, I feel the biryani is not so great compared to other buffets in Kolkata. Apart from biryani every item was delicious. In the desert, we got baked sandesh, brownie with Ice cream and hot gulab jamun which was pritty big than BBQ. My overall experience was good. Now coming to the drinks part, all the item prices are comparatively low than other places. We ordered 1 glass of red wine(₹550) and a corona extra(₹599) along with the buffet. With drinks they serves hot peanuts which is also in good amount and unlimited. All the staffs are very polite and helpful in this place. Mr Sujit Maity served us, he is such a great person, loved his behavior and humbleness. Lastly the Chef of this place Mr Kamal Giri, cooked very well and well behaved person and friendly too. We interacted with him during our buffet, honestly speaking never met such a humble person like him. I would highly recommend everyone to try their buffet. They do change their buffet menu everyday. Coming to the food, we had some of their best delicacies: • Chicken Lasooni Kebab- Generally Lasooni chicken kebabs are made of succulent chunks of chicken which are marinated with garlic and other spices and seasonings. But here, at Jaisalmer they used chicken leg pieces to make the Lasooni kebabs and they were equally soft and succulent. The chicken pieces were first marinated with garlic, ginger paste grene chilli paste and with other spices and masala as well. Then grilled slowly in the pan. • Gondhoraj Fish Tikka- People at the City of Joy love to have fish, and always prefer a preparation of fish whenever they visit any restaurant or cafe. Then smell and effect of Gondhoraj lebu (lime) is preferred by most of the people in Kolkata. Gondhoraj lebu is used to cook many dishes like chicken, fish, egg and also can be consumed in raw form. The fish fillet is marinated with Gondhoraj lebu juice, ginger paste and salt and then mixed well. Now prepare the steam and cook them slowly. • Ajillo Prawns- This is a dish originated from Spain named as Prawn with Garlic, aka Gambas Al Ajillo, in which they added some Indian touch and renamed it to Ajillo Prawns. For making this dish, high quality jumbo prawns is required as after the cooking, the size of prawns shrinks a bit. Here, four jumbo sized prawns were placed in a beautiful plate, presented beautiful and filled with veggies which were tossed in the garlic paste and olive oil. This dish is a highly recommended one. • Mixed Hakka Noddles and Kun Pao Chicken- This is an absolute combo that many of us craves for. Noodles along with a Chinese side dish is a combo that has been favourite for many from centuries. The kung pao chicken had veggies like capsicum, onions stir fried in oil and along with chopped ginger and garlic. Then few sauces are poured and after that the golden fried chicken chunks were taken and tossed with the sauce and veggies, turning into a great side dish for the mixed noodles. The noodles were thick, and had loads of veggies, eggs and chickens in it. But there was no prawn in it, so people having health issues (like allergy) from prawns won't have any problem, but prawn lovers will miss the prawns in it. • Grilled Bhetki with Lemon Butter Sauce- A whole, small Bhetki is used for preparing this dish. The Bhetki is coated with flour and then tossed in a pan with butter in it, and then sprinkled some salt and other seasonings in it. After this in the same pan, again butter is melted and a lime is squeezed in it and is mixed with butter. Then this sauce is poured over the fried fish fillet. Along with the grilled fish, they served assorted veggies and lemon butter rice. The rice was also prepared in the same pan, with slight amount of butter and lime in it. The outlet is really huge, can accommodate around hundred people easily. They have two kinds of sitting area that you can refer from the picture, one is normal chairs and tables and the other is kind of a bit private section with sofas. The walls are painted very beautifully, with beautiful scenaries and graffiti in it. They also provide banquet services for receptions, engagement parties and any private functions. So you can contact them for any kind of parties. Coming to their hospitality, it was really appreciable. They were very humble and helpful, and served the dishes just on time. From cocktails spiked with vodka to different types of Biryani, it has a wide range of items to offer. Location: Its on the first floor of Globsyn Building opposite to KFC. Decor- Its simply majestic. From elegant furnishings to the camel 🐫 outside, it gives you a total feel of Rajasthan. It has 3 private dining areas and can accommodate more than 50 persons easily. I’m describing a few of the dishes I savoured. Chicken butter masala: garnished with cream and coriander it is a very spicy and richly cooked dish. Spring Kai: this perfect starter is comprised of deep fried finger shaped boneless chicken pieces and Schezwan sauce and is garnished with carrot. Chicken Sultani Masala: true to its name this dish tastes undoubtedly regal. A hollow is carved in a massive chunk of chicken and is stuffed with chicken kima, this piece of chicken stuffed chicken is then cut into two after cooking and the dish is served garnished with cream and coriander leaves. Mutton Seekh Kebab: it doesn’t just taste good, it looks good too, the garnishing stands out what with a scrap of papor, onion rings and a slice of carrot served with the pieces of kabab. Pan fried chilly fish: It is one of the most delicious fish items I have ever had, with the spices and salt uniformly distributed in all parts of the boneless pieces of fish. Mutton Biryani: What can you, one of the best Biryani i had in Sec- 5 region. Not too spicy and not too dry,gives you a perfect feel of a awadhi biryani. Mutton Rara Punjabi: Biryani can’t be enjoyed to the fullest in absence of succulent pieces of meat slathered in thick gravy. This dish having minced mutton along with mutton pieces which compliments the Biryani. It can be coupled with naan or other bread items. Watermelon Mojito: This refreshing bright red mocktail is a perfect summer drink. Green on floor: This unique alcoholic drink is made from cucumber pulp, has a little amount of vodka and is served with a floating chilly. Overall an amazing place for fine dining in the heart of office para of Kolkata.

On the eve of Diwali, I visited this place for the 1st time for dinner. Located at the heart of Saltlake Sector V, just few mins from IEM college more, inside the Globysn Crystals building. The ambience of this place is very well maintained and very innovative and will surely remind you about Sonar Kella. Inside the resto, the ambient warm light gives you a different feeling. They do have a beautiful bar counter, hookah place that is serve upstairs. Apart from this beautiful decorations, they do have live sports screening too. We ordered 2 Non-veg buffet for dinner that cost us around ₹950/ person excluding drinks. They serve us all the item on our table, although they have a separate corner for buffet also where you can go and have your food. The food item starting from starters to main course was sufficient for us, would suggest if you can't eat too much don't go for the buffet. We feel that for two of us the quantity was more, so ended up very quickly. All items are unlimited, except the welcome drink. Suprisingly each and every item was freshly cooked and served hot. For biryani lovers, I feel the biryani is not so great compared to other buffets in Kolkata. Apart from biryani every item was delicious. In the desert, we got baked sandesh, brownie with Ice cream and hot gulab jamun which was pritty big than BBQ. My overall experience was good. Now coming to the drinks part, all the item prices are comparatively low than other places. We ordered 1 glass of red wine(₹550) and a corona extra(₹599) along with the buffet. With drinks they serves hot peanuts which is also in good amount and unlimited. All the staffs are very polite and helpful in this place. Mr Sujit Maity served us, he is such a great person, loved his behavior and humbleness. Lastly the Chef of this place Mr Kamal Giri, cooked very well and well behaved person and friendly too. We interacted with him during our buffet, honestly speaking never met such a humble person like him. I would highly recommend everyone to try their buffet. They do change their buffet menu everyday.
